The Indiana state board of health
discovered the other day thj compul-
sory school law enacted by Aic legisla-
ture recently closed docs away with
the authority of school hoards to ex-
clude from schools children that have
not been vaccinated. The amendment
was slipped into the bill by Represen-
tative Louttit, who is oppdsed to cac-
clnatlon.
Alranot Electrocuted.
A lineman employed in making re-
pairs to the telegraph lines between
Milwaukee and Chicago along the
Northwestern road, came near being
electrocuted the other day. A wire
which he was handling fell across a
trolley wire and instantly the lineman
was reduced to unconsciousness by the
stroke and fell to the ground. He was
resuscitated after considerable work
by his companions.

The Indiana Woman's Christian
Temperance Union, which some years
ago established the Hadiey Industrial
Home at Richmond, Ind., through the
liberality of Mr. and Mrs. AddUon Had-
iey of Hendricks county, has received
another liberal gift. The will of Mr.
Hadiey, who recently died, sets aside
a large portion of the estate as an en-
dowment fund for the home, and adds
277 acres of land, making the total
holdings 387 acres.

always had a wish to follow the pro-
fession of his father. He made him-

ality in order to be a reigning duke
in Germany—an honor which, there-
fore, devolved on his cousin, the
young duke of Albany, now duke of
Saxe-Coburg.

At a prayer meeting in Herkimer, N.
Y., Mrs. J. D. Henderson was disturbed
by something moving in the sleeve of
her fur coat. She took off the coat
' and found that her pet squirrel, which
i had been missing for a day or two,
had made a nest between the lining
and the fur. The squirrel refused to
come out and it was not until Mrs.
j Henderson took the coat home, ripped
j apart the sleeve and removed the nest
