Land Oftice
r 1 C DGK LINl>8AV has been ap-
I pointed register of the land office
and Jiulae T. J. Lowe secretary of
stale. Col. Corbett will, by this latter
appointment, liecome receeivr,of iHu
land oftice. The news of these uppoinl
meiits is reliable. The citizens of this
burg are to be congratulated on these
appointments. Judge Lindsay will make
an excellent register as he is a lawyer of
large and exceptional ability aud one of
the most clearheaded aud logical mind-
ed men in the^territory. A better man
than Judge Lowe could noi hayc been
placed in the chair of secretary of the
territory. He is well known to every
business man in Oklahoma und it would
be words wasted to attempt to eulogize
linn. Both appointees are sterling dem-
ocrats, red hot Cleveland men, broad as
their party, and not a drop of bigoted
political blood in I her bodies. The in-
terests of the territory and of all of its
people without regard to party will lie
their first care, aud Judge Lowe, in his
capacity of secretary of state, will have
ample opportunity to further the inter-
ests of ()klahoina, t lie land of his admir-
ation and adoption. The News gives
them both sincere congratulations. From
all that we have heard about Col. Tom
Corbett we are satisfied he will make an
exceptionally excellent receiver.
