'/•o ,Snyder, 1.iml* and Rrrfo y. Keep
up the street sprinkling and the people
will bo grateful to you.
Many a person has taken something
that did not tielons to them in Okla-
homa dnrins 'he past week.
♦
There is uo diniinuation in the popu-
lation of Guthrie. In fact the crowd
on our street# seems larger thiiu ever.
Thrbe are no strings tin anyone
holding a municipal office. If they do
not like the town let tliem leave it per-
manently.

Will City Attorney Pauconst please
return from Perry and move t have
the injunction against the citizens of
Outline dissolved?
What excuse is there for the recent
absence of Mayor McElhinuey. Jud
Goodrich, City Marshal Kelly, Fire
Chief and Councilman Taylor?
T>avb Raser mr3*8 that by Saturday
night there will be no water iu Perry
The railroad ha* out oft' all they had,

for Wharton.
The nkwh has kept as still as it c uiltl
under the circumstaiiceH. lint when
our city officials desert the town it i«
simply an injustice to the public not to
make mention of th*j fact.
Guthrie is doing an immense Strip
business. One of our merchants lias
put on two extra teams to haul goods to
the depot. The city is now full of buy
ers who are here for goods for the
Strip.
The News has only good words to
say of the people of Perry now that the
sharps ami hoodlums have left but of
the place itself well it istlio toughest
hole we ever got into. The opening days
of Guthrie were uptopian compared
to the opening days of Perry.

Sir You can have one quarter col-
umn of Tin News space in which t«
explain why the injunction against tin
city of Guthrie causing the (Nittonwood
to flow through the channel that nature
provided is not dissolved. For over
a year the mitt ex lots been pending
Ql'ICK M'TWX 1)EM.WI>KI>
The city council have a very serious
matter to consider and one that
quires immediate practical action. The
condition of the waterworks is such
that, in the event of a lire, the safety of
the city would be iu a very problemati-
cal state. There is little or no water in
the stand pipe nor in the main well,
and the people who are paying for
water, as well as the general public, arc
suffering accordingly. Now sometime
ago one of our too officious and over-
enterprising citizens, Mr. Cuppage, we
believe, succeeded in placingau injunc-
tion which materially effected the water
of the Cottonwood as a matter of pub-
lic convenience and succeeded in turn-
ing it from the main chanuel to the
great injury of the public interests, as
the people now begin to see them. Mr.
Pancoast, the city attorney, has made
no effort to dissolve that injunction,
though he has had several months to
act in. Now. what is wanted is, that
the water shall be turned back to its
natural course, that is to say into the
main channel, and thereby be made
subservient to the public behoof This
duty has been neglected by the city at-
torney. But now the people of this
city demand that he immediately apply
to the proper court and cause that in-
junction io be dissolved instautcr iu
the intere.lt of the public good. When
this is done the waterworks will be
available for the public necessities and
the public interests subserved. The
action of the common couucil in tbib
matter should be prompt aud decisive.
There is no time for talk, and mighty
little for action.

THOUGHTS ON SCIENCE.
The carbon of the food, mixed with
the oxygen of the air, furnishes fuel
for the body, which evolves the heat
in exactly the same way that a fire or
candle does.
Science savs that one eanfiot be
stung by a bee if the person holds his
breath. It would be more conducive
to a man's moral welfare, perhaps, if
he could hold his breath after getting
stung.
Snow appears white because it is an
aggregation of an infinite number of
minute crystals, each reflecting all
the colors of the rainbow; these colors,
uniting before tliey reach the eye,
cause it to appear white tt> every

Naphthalene, which is a product of
coal tar distillation, in appearance

of about two hundred degrees Fahren-
