We, the undersigned, having had it
; called to our attention that three
: bankers and i lawyer took upon
I themselves, the task of eliminating
11 all Candidates for State Senator in
j McCurtain County, except one, wish
|! to * state as follows:
i It was currently reported that Mc-
I Curtain Coqnty^ was to have four
j candidates for the State Senate. It
was freely discussed by all who were1
j in crested in seeing McCurtain coun-
j ty nominate a candidate this time,
| j that with more than one candidate in
j the field, it would be hard matter tJ
: put ovei a man from this county.
^ Without any knoweldge on our
i part, Judge E. E. Cochran and Hon.}
! John W. Scott entered into an agre^-'
2 ment, that they would leave their!
11 candidacy to their mutual friends,!
|! and let them say, who should make |
I the race. This agreement was to i
X have no effect on any other man, who i
i j might care to mpke the race. They |
JI agreed to select four men, as fol-
II lows: Geo. H. Montgomery and G. j;
11 G. Merry of Valliant, Calvin Gamble j:
j of Garvin, and Waldo Watkins of' j
11 Idabel, and that they would be bound j i
5 | by their decision. It was with much '■:
i j reluctance that we accepted such re
JI sponsibility, but upon insistence by
| j the interested parties, we acted it the
I! above capacity, with the result that
- i Mr. John Scott was the successful
I man, and he is now, the only candi-
f ; date from this county and we request
i j all our friends to get in and nomi
f i n^te Scott.
