FRIDAY, FEB. 9, 1912,
The fellows who refused :to
contribute to the railroad . fund,
The News almost wore out its
telephone last Friday. and Satur-
day answering calls for papers.
We predicted a demand for them
last week and printed quite a
batch of extras, but they were
all consumed and we needed as
many more. That shows that,
the town is full of boosters.
Farmers may be a little behind
with their work on. account of
the .weather, but pshaw, just
wait until we have . had a few
pretty days and you'l see the
teams and plows swarm into the
must feel awfully lonesome these I fields like black-birds, and it
days.
A number of new buildings are
being planed for ■eiteatooh "this
spring. Just keep an eye on
Fairland please.
In returning to his hole the,
the ground hog displayed more
intelligence than many of his
two-legged relatives.
The News is under obligations
to the Vinita Leader for some
equipment for enlarging last
week. Hope for an opportunity
to return the favor some day.
The American insists that the
M. 0. & G., chould have been
brought via.. Afton if the town
had exercised the proper spirit
in the matter. Just cite them to

won't be a week, until they, will
never know they were behind.
Many thanks for the numerous
compliments passed upon the
last issue of the News. These
pretty boquets are stimulating
and encourages us to greater en-
deavors.
A number of our friends have
shown their appreciation of our
enlarging our paper, by ordering
it to their friends "back home."
That not only helps us, but helps
to advertise the town. Every-
body ought to do it.

more pretty, healty ads than any
town of its size in this section of
the country, which is evidence of

CONFIDENCE
We Back up Our Statement With
ftOur Personal Reputation
and Money.
We are positive that we can re-
lieve constipation,' no matter
how chronic it may be, that we
offer to furnish the medicine free
ol all cosG if we fail.
We think that it is worse than
useless to attempt to cure con-
stipation with cathartic drugs.
Cathartics may do much harm.
They may do muck harm. They
rhay cause a reaction, irritate
and weaken the bowels, and
ipake constipation more chronic.
Constipation is often accom-
panied and may be caused by
weakness of the nerves and rnus-
liles of the large intestines or
Colon. To expect a cure you
must therefore tone up and
strengthen those parts and re-
store thern to healthier activity.
The discovery of the active
principal of our remedyjinvolved
the labor of skillful research
chemists. Thisi remedy produces
results such as are expected from
the best of the best-known intes-
tinal tonics, and : -particular
prompt in its results.
We want you to try Rexall Or-
derlies on our guarantee. They !
are exceedingly pleasant to take!
and are ideal for children. They |
apparently, act directly on the j
nerves and muscles of the bow-!
els, having, it would seem, a neu- i
tral action on other organs or
glans. They do not purge or
cause inconvenience. If they do
not positively cure chronic or
habitual constipation and thus
relieve the myriads of associate
or dependant chronic ailments,
your money will be<refunded.
Try litxall Orderlies at our
risk. Three sizes of packages,
10c, 25c and 50e. Remember
you can obtain Rexall Remedies

Pryor Creek, Afton, Fairland,
Miami and Vinita are all netting
i railroads galore—inaybe. We
haven't heard any strange whis-
tles yet. Railroads are funny
things—now yon have them, now
you don't.—Vinita Leader.
Watch out, Fairland. Your
i railroad talk should still begin
with an "if" and a big one, too.
i Not fifteen eggs out of every set-
ting of fifteen liatob, don't you
know. We are for you strong,
Fairland. Ktep. going.—Vinita!
Leader,
The Live Wire is1 informed that
the citizens of \Velch received a
telegram from Chicago that it
I was necessary for them to get
busy as the east and west road
I would be ready to begin work
within two.weeks. Another rail-
road for Miami.—Live Wire,
i A country newspaper man of-
fered a prize for a correct answer
! (o this • conundrum, "Why is a
i newspaper like a woman?" The
j prize was won by a Baxter lady,
and the answer was: "Every man
j should have one of his own and
not be running after his neigb-
i bor's."—Bluejacket Gazette.
Poor Afton seems to be leit
in the cold so far as the M. 0. &
(}. is concerned. Too bad, but
it seems that the matter cannot
j be helped as long as Fairland is
\ against you. Take this Irom us: j
j Get busy on a Grove extension
or we will beat you to it. Maybe
: we will anyway. We will decide;
I that later.—Vinita Leader,
j Watch the merchant that ad-
vertises. Nine times out of ten
! you will profit when you deal
with a real live merchant. Ad
vertisiug merchants are what is
judiciously termed "live ones."
If you are not an advertiser, get
the habit, Mr. Merchant. It's
uever too late to do good.— ~
Giove Sun.
Reports have come to this office 1
that George Eden is making pre- i
parations to assist in working 2
on the M. O. & G. right-of-way. |
Mr. Eden, so our informant says,
has converted two of his buggy
wheels and an axle into a home
madedumpcartand is now ready
for business when they begin
throwing dirt.—Afton American.
The happenings of Saturday j
night iu the acts of brutish,
drunken depravity hearken us
back to the etone age and make ;
us wonder if we live iu one of the
states of the union or iu a state
of outlawry and savagery. We
don't pose as a reformer, but
hogs, dogs and brutes of any
kind should be properly corraled.
You cau't make 'em over, but
you can improve their modes of
living.—Afton American.
