During the present campaign, Hon.
Lee Cruce, democratic candidate for
governor, has sought in several hun-
dred speehes to make his position
clear on all public questions. Space
does not permit giving his position
on all questions, but the quotations
below taken from his speech deliv-
ered at Bartlesville and reported by
the Bartlesville Examiner, give you
his position on the main questions,
bing discussed In the primary cam-
paign. Mr. Cruce said:
The democratic party has stood for
a greater Oklahoma and a united and
progressive citizenship. The demo-
cratic -party gave you a two cent
passenger rate. A republican federal
office holder took it away from ycu.
The democratic party gave, you a low-
er freight rate. A republican federal
office holder took that away from
you. The republican party has done
everything in their power to nullify
and void the \york of the railway and
public service corporation commis-
sion that was created by the demo-
cratic party to protect you from the
grasping greed of corporations, and

HON. LEE CRUCE
If the federal courts don't destroy it
that commission will stand between
you and the averous hand of greed.
In relation to the segregated coal
and asphalt lands that certain parties
are trying to unload on the state, I
am oposed to the state going into
the real estate business and being
made the dumping ground of a lot of
old worn out mines at the expense
of the public school fund. They say
that there are 480,000 acres of these
lands that can be bought for $12,000,-
000 and that the Indians are get-
ting as royalty on these alnds $250,-
000 annually. It is proposed to take
the school children s money of this
state that is now loaned out to farm-
ers at live per cent Interest, and in-
vest It In a speculative enterprise
that will pay but two per cent In-
terest. Now if any man can figure
out as good an Investment for th«
state he Is a different financier than I
have been trained to be.
"Another thing that I am opposed
to is convicts coming into competi-
tion with honest labor. I am opposed
to convicts coming Into competition
with honest farmers, with honest me-
chanics, with honest miners. Should
Oklahoma become the owner of these
coal and asphalt lands the inevitable
result would be for the convict to
drift into the mines, and for every
convict that went in an honest miner
would have to come out.
"I am opposed to the Torrens land
system In Oklahoma, and if I am
elected governor I will veto any bill
attempting to engraft it upon the
laws of this state. The Torrens Land
system reduced to simplicity means
that the state of Oklahoma would
guarantee every holder of a Torrens
land certificate the title to his land,
and if in after years the title should
prove defective Oklahoma, out of the
taxpayers' money would have to make
good the loss to the holder of the cer-
tificate. There is no reason why the
state should guarantee me against a
defective title to my land than it
should guarantee Mr. George there
agafnst a defective flue In his house.
Since statehood became effective In
1907, more than 30,000 suits have
been filed in the federal court of this
state to annul conveyances made to
lands upon the east side of Oklahoma.
Thes suits involve more than 2 mil-
lion acres of land. If we had such a
law in this state and the government
should suceed in maintaining its
contention and overthrow the titles,
it would mean bankruptcy for Okla-
homa.
"I stand for a white man's gov-
ernment. The white race has never
submitted to the negro domination
and never will. By white man's gov-
ernment I mean Indians also, for
some of the best blood of the coun-
try, some of the sharpest best busi-
ness men of the state, some of the
most honorable and upright members
of society are Indian or Indian des-
cent. It is proposed in this state to
initiate a law that will restrict suf-
frage so far as negroes are concern-
ed, to those who can read. I favor
the passage of that law and believe
the necessity for it exists in Oklaho-
ma. Practically all the state with a
larpo negro population have passed
a lav, restricting the negro in the
exercise of the ballot. Fleeing from
these lttWi, which he thinks are an
infringement on his rights he natur-
ally turns to this state, for our cli-
mate is adapted to his tastes and
here grows the crops he Is accustom-
ed to, and here he fels that he will
be placed upon the same political
footing and equality with the othet
races."
"My friends, I have stated it a hun-
dred times, yes, a thousand times;
and I repeat it here today that Okla>
homa has upon her statute books
today the best banking law that has
ever been written in American his-
tory.
"As to the question of prohibition,
If the same question was before the
people this fall that was before them
three years ago I would vote upon
that question exactly as I did then.
The people of the state having de-
clared in favor of state-wide prohi-
bition, I hold that that part of the
constitution should not be altered or
repealed except when that alteration
or repeal originates with the voters
of this state, and receive their sanc-
tion by a majority vote at the polls.

NEEUflL KNOWLEDGE
Stigler People Should Learn to De-
tect the Approach of Kid-
ney Disease.
The symptoms of kidney trouble
are to unmistakable that they leave
no ground for doubt. Sick kidneys
excrete a thick, cloudy, offensive ur-
iro, full of sediment, irregular of
passage or attended by asensaiion of
scalding. The back aches cousttut-
ly, headaces and dizzy spells may oc-
cur and the victim is often weighed
down by a feeling of languor y.nd
fatigue. Neglect these warnings and
there is danger of drop3.v, Brifjht's
disease, or dlbetes. Any of of thesj
symptoms is warning enough to be-
gin treating the kidneys at once. De-
lay often proves fatal.
You can use no beter rem-Jdy than
Doan's Kidney Pills.
Read this:
I.oreiwo Cenotto, of Poteau, Ok-
la.. says: "I consider Doan's Kid-
ney Pills to bs an effective kidney
medicine. About six montha ago
they cured me of a dull, heavy ache
across the small of my ba -k and
corrected a kidney weakness that
had nnnoyed me for a long time.
Other members of my family have
taken Doan's Kidney Pills i'nd the
best of results have always followed.

sons in domestic science?
The latest maid—Oh, yes, ma'am;
my brother Jimmy's a good, shifty,
two-handed light-weight and I often
put on the gloves with him!
TO HOLD ALL THK CANDLES
Johnny smilingly surveyed his
birthday cake which wa^ adorned
with seven lighted candles.
"An' each candle stands for one
year of my-age ma?" he inquired.
''Exactly, my dear," said h!s moth-
er.
"Gee!" exclaimed Johnny, .-flec-
tlvely; "just think of the size o*
the cake I'll have to have when I'm
seventy-five!"

HEARING ITS FINISH
The stalled automobile male a
noise like a gunshot.
"Poor thing!" signed thj nigh-

''it must have broken an ixle.''
"What makes you think so?"
asked the off-horse.
"Why," replied the nigh-hor&e, in
surprise, '!didn't you Just hthe

CAIIUAGE TALK
The would-be contributor to the
agricultural college paper entered on
the sanctum.
"How'd you find my dissertation
on cabbage?" he cheerfully Inquir-
ed.
"On the pork!" snapped ♦he edi-

"But I could boil it dowu?" sug-
gested the near-journalist.
''I fear our readers could l di-
gest it then," sardonically .-•arkled
the cruel editor.
