—S. F. Parks, Secretary of Ka?tern Cher-

to forward to Washington, No more names
will be registered at present.
—Hon. Cha Starr, of Sequoyah, was at
the Capital tl.li v; jck, boing called hero by
the serious illness of his little daughter,
who is much better at this writing.
—The Cherokee Presbytery met at Fort
Gibson last Tuesday, lion. 11. O. Barnes,
Rev. John Rons, Kev. A. E. Thompson,
Rev. E. P. Robersou and others from here
attended,
—Mr John Rogers of Vian. f< rmerly of

was married to Miss Annie Hawkins of this
plane, lust week at Fort Gibson. John, you

—Our Webber's Fulls correspondent
it seems, rather leans toward sensationalism.
There was no sale of tho llaycs & Blackstou
stole, and not a word of truth about the
quilting frames. We want facts from cor-
respondents.
—High Sheriff, Wash Mayes, has put the
National Jail and premises connected with
that institution, in the best sanitary condi-
tion. Other needed improvement< have been
made, that were a necessity. Undo Wash
ktows how to run the thing.
—Wagoner now has a huge lumbar vnrd.
It is unnecessary for our people to solid wa}
off for their finishing lumber, lime, coment.
etc., as thoy can get all kinds of building
material at the Wagoner Lumber Co's
yard, wh'ch is much nearer and cheaper
than from elsewhere. You will seo their
card in our next.
—The Parkinson Mercantile Co., of
Wagoner, carries something of everything.
They now have n $40,000 stock of goods
on hand. See their card in thi* paper, l
is a standing invitation for your trade—and
a sure guarantee that when you tiaJo with
them, you get exactly what you want, and
will be treated fairly and squarely
—Mrs. E. M. Albert?, the proprietress
of the National House, which is one of the
most popular hotel resorts in the Nation,
like Aunt Jane Stapler "enjoy* reading the
Telephone," and invariably, when a«ked as
to the best newspaper of the four, published
in Tahlequah refers tho questioner to this
paper. Aunt 'Liza's head is as level in re-
gard to newspapers, as it is when it comes
to runnincr a first-class hotel.
—It would wem that tho people, not on-
ly of the Cherokee Nation, but of Foit
Suiith, Wagoner, Muskogee, Fort Gibson
id Van .urer, have found out that to

not long since, and Brown v.-as immediately
afterward arretted. This virtually breaks
up the gang of outlaws that have infested
that part of the country for so long, and
the inhabitants of that neighborhood may
now breathe a free a r without fear of be-
ing molested.
— The supper given by the ladies of tho
j trsonago society of tho Methodist church
biot Fridav evening, proved a roaring suc-
cess both socially and financially. Tho I
dies merit a great amount of credit for
their undertaking which was so tuccessful-
ly conducted and mudo a pleasure to all
who attended. A number of the Seminary
girls came in for their Share at tho appoint-
ed time, and did full justice toward the eve-
nings entertainment. We understand
neat little sum was realized, which will go
into the parsonage fund of the above church.
—Chief Harris returned this week from
