When court opened the trial ol
the case of U. S. vs. James Watson
for lnreony, was resumed. The
balance of the evidence was taken,
the attorneys presented their views
of the law and the evidence to tho
jury, the judge delivered his charge
and the ease was given into the
I hands of tho jury. After mature
deliberation, they returned a ver-
dict of guilty on the third count,
and the defendant was remanded
to jsil to await sentence. I
The case of U. S. vs. William B.
Killon, for extortion. The jury
was empannoled and the examina-
tion of witnesses was in progress
when court sdjourncd.
Tho delemlnnt, Killon, was com-
missioned a deputy marshal from
the U. S. court at this place, Jan.
1890, and held his commission un-
til Sopt. 13, 1890. Tho first count
of tho indictment charges that on
April 1, 1890, the defendant, Kill-
on, secured ten head of ponies,
valued ut t25 each, from Geo. Bul-
let, promising not to procure a
warrant for tho arrest of George
Bulle , on a charge of having stol-
en one head ot cattle from Joseph

the Supreme court, under the law,
granting an appeal in Capital cases
io the Supreme court. Col's Cra-
vens, Barnes and Reed, who defen-
ded Alexander are convinced that
.Justice Brown is a very fine law-

States: in error to the Circuit Court
of the United States for the Wes-
iern District of Arkansas; judge-
ment reversed and cause remanded

Judge Buffington. Oonnell waa
thirty-five or forty years of age
and was the husband of one of Mrs.
Tygar'a daughters. Ho resided
upon Mustang creek and has been
in an asylum before.
D. W. Bushyhead spent a few
hours in town Tuesday night, com-
ing direct from Arkansas City, to
got permits ronewod for his men 'n
the rock quarry west of 96 0 . Mr.
Bushyhead will oppose the order
of the U. S. Government in order-

and contest the Cherokee rights in
the Kansas courts.
