New York Trio Pledges Unity for Nixon
NEW YORK (AP) -
Richard M. Nixon Wednes-
day heard three powerful
New York Republican*
who lead the GDI’ s liberal
wing pledge their whole-
hearted support for his
presidential candidacy.
The Republican candi-
date sat smiling while New
York Gov. Nelson A. Rock-
efeller, Sen. Jacob K. dav-

Lindsay of New York City
rose one by one to tell
newsmen they'll do all

publican ticket.
Nixon acknowledged
that the New York leaders
have not always agreed in
the past. ‘'That is true,"
he said. ‘‘That will contin-

not consensus, is ‘‘the hall-
mark of freedom.” Repub-
lican leaders, he said, are
team players, ‘‘and a par-

p e a t unqualifiedly, or
whatever adjective t h e
press wants to use, I sup-
port the ticket,” he said.
Javlts turned to Nixon
and said that when they
served in congress togeth-
er he had seen him sup-
port ‘‘measures that would
seem inconsistent to what
others have attributed to
you — a conservative point
of view."
Lindsay, who, like Jav-
its, supported Rockefeller
for the GOP nomination,
said, “The country is
