Married at Miami.
M.r. and Mrs. R. Q. James of
.Miami, .came over Wednesday
«9v but hold on., a .minute.
We're getting .too fast
Mr. R. Q. James, of Miami,
'formerly of this place, and Miss
-Lula Maxwell of that.city, were
married on Wednesday last at
,ithe home of Me. and Mrs. Wm.
Doty in Miami, Rev. J. R. Car-
michael of ithe Baptist churxh
officiating. Now we have it.
■The newly weds <came over .on
the Gulf, for a little visit with
:$he groom's ,parents, ®r. and
Mrs. Eli James. They .returned
,"the next morningtto Miami, and
will soon go to house keeping in
that city. The brideiis a ..daugh-
ter'Of Es<Goucty Commissioner
.Newt Maxwell, and is.a very
jpopular young lady. The groom
as most all our .readers know, is
aifineyoung man wvth exemplary
ihabits and 1ms a host of (friends
•here who wish ihim a ihappy and
prosperous .life. The Herald
joins in best -wishes and ac-
knowledges a apiece of wadding
•cake and othe.r delicaoes from
.the wedding feast, which was
.highly relished.
A Double-Header the Fourth,
Fairland will have a double
header ball .game -on the 4th.
Therfirst game will be called at
2 p.m., and will be between the
locals and the Bernice boys. As
soon as this game is .finished the
Afton team will contest the
Crawford Commedian nine.
These two games will furnish
enough sport of that kind for
one day, and as all o'f these teams
play good ballj it will be
going to see.
Monroe Carter came in the
first of the week. tUe had been
reading the Herald and saw that
we had a big crop of wheat, and
he's here to help thresh it out.
The greatest attraction that
.Fairland has for the 4th of J ulv '
celebration is the perfermances
to be given by Harry Rich, the
man whr .flirts with death.
Prof. Rich was in Fairland a few
weeks ago and .made such a hit
with the people that they secur-
ediliim for tnis big celebration.
His perfoitmances in mid air
air will be .free for everybody.
Three different exhibitions will
be-given. Don't fail to see him
Men quiver, women shriek and
worth ^children cry. tlis acts are mar-
velous. Balloon assensions are
.nothing compared with this dare-
devil. If he keeps up his per-
formances, itiis only a question
of time until he will meet a hor-
rible death. This may be the
last opportunity .you will have to
see him. Don't miss it.
,A/Rich Strike.
News reached Grove this week
that jacK had been struck .in
large quantities near 'the 'Joe
Alberty farm in'the Denmark
neighborhood, five miles norjh
and west of here. Frank Con-
ner, president of the Bank of
Fairland., Tuesday secured a
lease on the tract where the
mineral was found and-alsoon
much of the land adjoining.
About 150 pounds ef high grade
ore was taken ,to ^Fairland for
samples, Tbe'finfl was made by
