I Not in business for Our Health!
We never mado any pretentions
of that kind. We have no patience
with people who pretend to be in
business SOLELY FOR THE
BENEFIT OF THEIR CUSTOM-
ERS
Such things do not sound
reasonable and what is more are
not true.
We have always maintained that
ic is best to stick to the truth
that we like every other house are
in business principally to make
money.
There are however two ways of
doiDg business. one way the wrong
way, is to charge all the profit you
can get, to trust that the future
will take care of iietlf. and that
there is a fool born every min -
ute. The other way, the right
way—is our way,is to buy the right
kind of up-to-date goods at the
right price and then gel the margin
down to the lowest notch com-
mensurable with a legitimate bus-
iness policy, that is the way to get
trade and to hold ,it, and that in
the long run is the sure way of
having success.
Good goods, low prices with the
Deceptive Features of Baits Omit-
ted, the quality wh ich is gnaran
teed and can be depended upon in
every instance, and a large and
varied assortment are the grea
trade magnets which has made
this house what it is—the most
progressive house in Shawnee.
The Proof of the Pudding.
The proof of the truth of our as-
sertions is the indisputable fact
the continuous growth of our
businfess.
Our trade could not keep on in-
creasing from month to month
and from year to vear unless our
goods and prices and treatment of
our trade was right. In spito of
our i"rge increasing business we
!: •> vo by no u::iu;s arrived at the
point where we don't care for new
trade.
We Want More Of It.
We want yours, if we have nev-
er had it, and in order to make
you feel perfectly safe in buying
from us, we will grant you the
privilege of returning the goods
after home inspection and we will
refund the money as cheerfully as
we took it from you.
We recognize the fact that ar-
guments alone will not convince
anyone. But we have the goods
and prices that will convince the
most skeptic.
N. B. We are constantly add-
ing to our stock new specialties,
such as Victor suspenders, E. & W.
collars and cuff's, in fact all the
specialties in gent's furnishing
aoods.

An exchange says that tho
newspaper field is a wide field of
roses and thorns. When you
roast the preacher tho ungodly
smile; when you roast the ungod-
ly the preacher smiles. If you
roast the saloon men the teetotlers
smile: when you roast the teetot-
ler fho saloon men set 'eiu up. If
you don't swear you are a hypo-
crite; if you do you arc a toutrb
If you have an opinion you get
cussed and if you don't you are
a nononity. The preacher knows
one thing, the saloon man an-
other, and the editor is expected
to know everything. Ho is the
best man and the worst in tho
community.

The government is instituting a
press censorship. All great gen-
erals bate newspapers. Sherman
in general orders alluded to
editors as d newspaper
ghouls.'' Grant was also bitter.
Only the common sense of Lin-
coln saved the country from be-
ing under the thumb of a news
dictator. As a serious fact en-
terprising newspapers furnished
more pointers to officials, in tho
last war, than all their scouts and
spies. One great man, the only
groat general of ou 1 war, George
L. II: im.is, never found u newt-
paper a hindrance. He made no
blunders and needed no scape
goat. Tie revelation of blunders
is what great generals fear. The
errors of favoritism and the meth-
ods of unfairness are what great
governments desire to conceal.
1'tio general whose plans are >o
thin that war correspondents
puncture them has plans enly
f tvorable to the enemy. Genius
and honesty are not aided by
darkness.
Pres. I>. R, Boyd of the Terri-
torial U .iversity will deliver the
address tonight at the graduating
exercises.
