For Governor,
1910
JUDGE M. O. GARBER,
of Garfield county.
A LITTLE COMMON SENSJ
Some of ‘he newspapers o
this Congressional district ar< (
endeavoring to start a war o
Congressman McGuire, an
where they do it they are on 13
furnishing the Democrats wit
clubs to beat the Renublicans t-
death in this district. If thes
editors would only ston an
think, there is more at stake i
Oklahoma in the next el ctioi
thin in the election of a Con
gressman in this district and th
more strife they stir up by tight
ing McGuire the more they less-
en the chance of Republican suc-
cess in the state. The first thinj.
to do is for the Repub icans to de-
feat the Democratic party in tin
state and then if there is some
dirty linen in the Republics
party that needs cleansing, it is
time enough to laundry that
then, but whip the Democrats is
the first job and settle these fam-
ily affairs afterward. The.si
same editors are advocating, that
the most logical man for govern
or in the state be pitted against
McGuire for Congress, and that
man is Judge M. C. Garber, of
Garfield county. They seem to
be willing to sacrifice Republican
success in the state, just to grat-
ify their desire to beat McGuire.
The winning of the state elec-
tion by the Republicans is of
vast more importance to the tax
payers of this state, than the de-
feat of one Republican for Con-
gressmen and the election of an-
other man. And we say right
now, that it is very doubtful if
the Republicans can handle a big
Congressional scrap in this dis-
trict for the nomination of a Con-
gressmen and roll up a majority
sufficiently large enough to be of
much help in electing a state
ticl et. It is not the intention to
boost for any man for Congress,
but a few deductions made from
pivsent existing political contii-
ions in this stab*, seems to ap-
peal for common sense argu
nent, if it is hoped to elect any
Republican officers in this state
in the next election.
Haskell and Cruce can go on
t ie stump and belittle each other
to everything in the category of
crime and their supporters ap
pirently forget in six weeks
time, and rally to the sup
> >rt of the successful one.
nit the rank and tile of the
Republican party is not so con-
lituted and it was very plainly
xemplified, in this part of the
tate, in the Hainer— McGuire
•Tmpaign two years ago. That
intest put more words in the
louth of the opposition party
ban they could handle intelii
ently. yet they managed to com-
file the records furnished by
Ir. Hainer, into such, for the
lemocratic nominee for Con-
cress used Mr. Hainer’s charges
s his campaign text book, and
ame very near winning out on
he misrepresentations. And tin*
Republican narty that year were
1 possession of no more advan-
ige than they will be next, so
ir as having strength to waste
n fighting each other.
The wise thing to do is for the
Republicans of this district to
jet together and center their
■ciergies on electing the state
cket and after that has been ac
omplished there will be a time
■ t the end of the first two years
0 spank Congressmen if they
re deserving of it.
The R< publican party, in-the
lext election, will be called upon
1 press its best generals into
the thickest of the fight, and with
rdie breast w< rks tl at have been
constructed, for tli *m, by the
democratic party, since it took
hold of affairs in this state, the
Republicans should win. Only
one thing can keep them from
winning, and that is for some of
the Republicans in rank to fire
on their comrades.

Some are agitating the ques-
tion of calling the Republican
State Committee together and
make the preliminary arrange-
ments for the campaign next
year, It is beyond question that
these arrangements can not be
made too early, for at the pres-
ent time the Democratic commit-
tee is vigorously at work through
the different state departments
in spreading campaign dope. It
is done this way The depart-
ments are sending to the news-
papers articles for publication,
under the guise of the policy
used in conducting the affairs of
that special department.
The people of this state are
eager for the facts of the admin-
istration of the affairs of the
state, backed up by figures, and
it is going to devolve upon the
Republican party of this state to
furnish them with such informa-
tion. The matter of taxation,
the expenditure of the large ap-
propriations made by the two
legislatures, the handling of the
enormous school fund, are only a
few of the many explanations
that will have to be made by the
party in power, and in order that
the people may have the facts ob-
tained from the records, and ti e
manner a: d for what purpose all
this money has been spent, it is
very necessary that the Republi-
can party of this state get well
organized and have this informa-
tion ready for the taxpayers
when they call f >r it. Get it to
them before the campaign opens
and then every speaker sent out
by the opposition can’t brand
such statements and literature
as “campaign dope, ’ and smooth
it over with a few flowery prom-
ises. Promises are not what the
people want. They are going to
demand figures and every ac-
count must balance.
“Procrastination is the thief of
time”, and a source for the Dem-
ocratic party to back up their
jugglery and dodge the real is-
sues. A well organized plan of
campaign on the part of the Re-
publican party of this state, will
form a barrier that the opposi-
tion can't explain away or break
down.

FORT WORTH. Texas JACKSON, Mississippi
W. W. Welter has severed his
connection with the Medford Pa,
triot, having sold his interest to
Senator Simons, senior member
of the firm of Welter & Simons,
who will continue the publication
of the Patriot. It is on account
of Mr. Welter’s health and upon
the recommendation of his phy
sician that he “goes out of the
print shop,” to engage in some
other business. He has decided
to remain in Medford, and the
Medford Star says that it is glad
of it. The fraternity of the coun-
ty will hope for Mr. Welter’s re-
storation to health, and will Wel-

istic pond any time that lie may
i decide to jump in.
Bill Murray says that he is
willing to be a candidate for the
nomination of Governor, if the
people will donate the money to
pay his campaign expenses.
