The drill at the gas well has
been idle for the past week, wait-
ing for a bucket. The well is
down about 600 feet and on ac-
count of the earth formation, the
drillers had to reduce the hole to
six inches at that depth and as
they had no bucket for that size
hale, it was necessary to order
one. When it will arrive we do
not know. It was hoped that
there would he natural gas to
bake the beans on Sept. 15 to 18,
but we have not given up hope
yet.
A Baking Powder Co., had a
company of young ladies in town
last Tuesday, advertising their
goods. This is a novel way of
advertising, but it is no argu
ment that it beats printer’s ink,
for the reason that it is not last-
ing. To prove it, several of the
girls wore drug store complex-
ions, and their arguments for
their goods were soon forgotten.

S. Calvert and wife, O. L. Cal-

and wife and Edward Buchei
and himself all returned last
Saturday. About the most in
teresting narrative of the trip
that any of them tell is the ocean
trip from San Francisco to Seat-
tle, a distance of 1006 miles. Ac
cording to O. L. Calvert's version
lie was the only one able to an-
swer to roll call at inoal time any-
time on the trip. From his ex-
planation, his father, who thinks
that Oklahoma is the Garden <>l

own-family, lie lost, ull interest
in his surroundings and even de-
clared that lie was not much in-

by sea sickness. The ladies in
the party all proved poor seawo-
men, and even refused gum,
oranges and other delicacies .*o

them to leave their berths, but
they all express themselves as
enjoying the trip. Dr. Brew-
