Washington,—Demobilization of the
army "ho far as combatant troops are
concerned," wilt be completed the last
of October, Secretary Baker announc-
ed. Many men now in the army, it
was explained, wil' be retained to care
for large stores of equipment remain-
ing on hand.
Mr. Baker announced some time ago
that the army would be reduced to
the peace time strength provided* in
the national defense act by September
30, At that time, however, there still
will remain in the army a number of
men enlisted for the emergency.
These will be released as rapidly as
thoy can be replaced by volunteers.
"I fear that In the days before the
war, we had fallen to the habit of tak-
ing the regular army for granted,” Mr.
Baker said. “We had lost sight of the
tremendous potential value of the
army as an educational Institution Tor
training young men to become not
only finished soldlrs, but citizens able
to earn more and be more. The whole
new program of helping the soldier to
become a more efficient and useful cit-
izen will now be put into play.”
Imitations Are Dangerous.
AN OHIO druggist writes to “The Practical Druggist,” a prominent New York
** Drug Journal, as follows! * “Please famish formula for Oastoria. All the
formulas I have worked with are either ineffective or disagreeable to administer,”
To this “The Practical Druggist” replies: “We do not supply formulas for
proprietary articles. We couldn’t if we wanted to. Your experience with Imitative
formulas is not surprising, but just what is to be expected. When Oastoria is
wanted, why not supply the genuine? If you make a substitute, it is not fair or
right to label it Oastoria. We can give you all sorts of laxative preparations for
children, but not Oastoria, and we think a mother who asks for Oastoria would not
feel kindly toward you if you gave her your own product under such a name ”
No mother with a spark of affection for her child will overlook the signa-
ture of Chas. E Fletcher when buying Oastoria.

Mothers Must Use Care.
Why do we so often call your attention to imitations of Fletcher's
Castoria? Because it is a baby’s medicine and imitations are always
dangerous, particularly imitations of a remedy for infants.
Your druggist may not keep an imitation but they are to be found
on drug-store shelves. Reliable druggists think only of the welfare
of their customers. The other kind only of the greater profit to be
made on imitations.
Your own judgment tells you that Fletcher’s Castoria having for
over thirty years at great expense held up its reputation, must jeal-
ously guard it. Then, it follows that this company must use the very
best of material. Must employ experts in the selection of the herbs.
Must retain skilled chemists in its manufacture.
Your same good judgment must tell you that these Irresponsible
imitators are trading on your credulity and the reputation built up
by Mr. Fletcher, during all these years, for his Castoria.

WHEN KIDNEYS
ACT TOO OFTEN
If bothered with that form of kidney
trouble which causes toe frequent or exces-
sive passage of urine, don’t expect relief
from medicines that are intended for com-
mon kidney complaint. These remedies
generally are intended to increase kidney
action.
Liquid Shu Make should always be used
where the kidneys are over active during
the day or at night. It is not a cure for
all forms of kidney trouble, but is in-
tended for over-activity of the kidneys of
both children and adults alike, eqeMi&ll/

Envy,
Nineteen-year-old Henry has just
come home from his first year In an
Eastern college. His sixteen-year-old
brother Bill looks on many changes In
him with scorn, one which la responsi-
ble for the most of this scorn being
Henry’s bit of mustache. The other
day Henry went into the bathroom to
trim the edges of that imitation of a
mustache and Bill happened in while
the operation was in progress. For a
few minutes he watched his brother in
silence and then he called to his
mother:
“Oh, mother, be sure to have Jennie
sweep up the bathroom immediately.
