THE COUNTY DEMOCRAT
Volume 19
OFFICIAL COUNTY PAPER
TECTMSEH. OKLAHOMA. FRIDAY. OUTORKR -•>. 9)12.
The Greatest Living American Will Speak In
■SHAWNEE. TUESDAY. OCT. 29
At 6:00 O’clock P. M.
Every voter in Pottawatomie county should take
advantage of this opportunity to hear this brilliant
statesman; the man who has done more for democ-
racy than any one in the Nation; the man whom the
American people love and honor; the one man who
stands for true Jeffersonian principles.
Change in Democratic Ticket;
M. Joi dan Resigns and F. W.
Creel Named to Succeed Him
Last week M. Jordan who was
nominated in the democratic pri-
mary, for Commissioner from the
second distriot, filed his resigna-
tion with the Democratic Com-
mittee and on Monday night at a
meeting of the Committee, his
resignation was accepted and F.
W. Creel named to fill the vacan-
cy. Mr. Creel is one of the best
known and most popular men in
the district having lived in and
near Tecumseh for the past eigh-
teen years, during which time he
has made many acquaintances
and practically the same number
of true friends. Mr. Creel has
the qualifications to make a
splended commissioner having
had two years experience in that
capacity twelve years ago and
established a reputation of be-
ing honest and fair to every one
giving due consideration to every
man regardless of where they
lived or who they were. He is a
man who stands square-toed for
the right. He will not counte-
nance any shady transactions.
There is not enough wealth in
the entire oounty to get Frank
Creel to do a dishonest act. He
believes that a dollar of the coun -
ty’s money is worth as much and
should go as far as any individ-
uals dollar and no further. He
believes in a square deal between
oounty and man and man and
oounty. He is not the kind of a
man who would spend his time
ohasing promises and allow dol-
lars to roll by unnoticed. He is
a full grown man who has the
courage to say yes or no as the
case may demand. A vote for
Frank Creel is a vote for an hon-
est and courageous man who will
always be found doing what he
thinks is his duty.

Frank ('reel for Economy
To the Voters of the Second Commissioners District:
1 desire to say that my selection as the candidate for Commissioner on
the democratic ticket by the central committee of the second district came to
me unsought. However, 1 appreciate the confidence of the committee and
fully understand the responsibility the appointment carries with it.
1 have but a short ten days to make a canvass. It is my desire to see
as many voters of the district personally as possible. 1 shall be in the cam-
paign every day from now until the election but I urge those interested in
democratic success not to feel disappointed if 1 am unable to see as many of
you as 1 should if the time lor making a canvass were longei.
My platform is real economy in the administration of the office with
the greatest amount of improvement of public roads and bridges possible. If
elected, no claim will be allowed until I shall be certain it is a just and legal
claim against the county. Very sincerely yours,
F. W. CREEL,
Democratic Nominee for County Commissioner Second Distncl.

Make It Unanimous.
Have No Fears.
F. E. Romberg, candidate for
County Commissioner from the
first distriot, to succeed himself,
was in town Tuesday on business
for the county.
When he was asked how the
Commissioner’s race in his dis-
trict was, he remarked: “'I have
no fears what ever. I have tried
to make for my district and Pott-
awatomie county generally, a
good official and my work speaks
for its self, my district is back of
me and I expect to get a larger
vote in the coming election than
I did before. I have been mixing
with the boys some and find no
serious complaint and I am mak-
ing my arrangements to serve
Pottawatomie county two more
years in the capacity of Commis-
sioner.”
Speaks at McComb Monday Night.
Hon. Claud Weaver, Demo-
cratic Nominee for Congressman
at Large, will speak at McComb
Monday night. The voters of
that community are fortunate in
having an opportunity to hear
Mr. Weaver as he is one of the
best speakers in Oklahoma.
Every one who can should hear
him regardless of politios.
No taxpayer in the third Com-
missioners d:strict should vote
against R. L. Howard, the man
who has been tried and made
good. The democrats say he has
made good, the republicans say
he has made good and the social-
ists say he has made good, so
now taxpayers, have the courage
of your convictions and vote for
your interest—vote for a man
who has had business experience,
a man who can grasp a business
proposition when it is put up to
him, vote as good citizenship
dictates to you. Mr. Howard
has the business ability, has the
courage of his oonvictions, give
him vour vote as you will agree
it is your duty to do.

Another Live Wire.
Chas. Fox was up from Little
River Tuesday. Mr. Fox says
the Bull Moose is the proper
article and that they have come
to stay.
J. P. Cook was up from Moore
Township Monday. Mr. Cook
will open his school Monday
where he has been teaching for
a number of years.
Mr. C. W. Welch of Agra, has
located among us and we extend
to him a cordial welcome. Mr.
Welch is a live proposition, he
has a 2,000 per day canery and

tical experienced man in this line

well matched and was any body’s
game for some time, McLoud

Dear Sir:—
Replying to your inquiry as to
my position upon the resolution
adopted by your association, will
say: I am glad to make my
position plain to you, as I think
it right and proper for every
candidate who is asking the sup-
port of their fellow-men to state
his position upon all questions
which effect the citizenship of
the county. It will be my aim
and earnest desire to enforce all
the laws, without discrimination;
and especially will I endeavor to
enforce the law against bootleg-
ging and gambling and Sabbath
desecration, these being laws
more commonly violated than
any other.
I will expect the hearty co
operation of every law enforce-
ment person of this county and
will advise with them in select-
ing my deputy force, as I do not
expect to have any deputy who
is not in favor of law enforce-
ment, as the Sheriff’s office is
one of the departments of the
oounty that has a great deal to
do with the control of crime.
Trusting my position has been
made clear to you, and with best
wishes for each member Of your
association, 1 beg to remain,
Very respectfully,
J. H. Hatfield.
