tern* WhDAY MOT.
The council will again take
action regarding the gas fran-
chise* Monday night, at which
time it is hoped the matter will be
settled.
The New* haa been in the fight
for cheap gas for factories and for
domestic purposes as well, and
though adverse to exclusive fran-
chises of any kind, if the Bartles-
ville GasCompany offers what is
fair to the citizens of Bartlesville,
we believe having their money in-
vested, they should be granted
anything within reason, and an-
other franchise should be let
granting the right to the other
company to furnish factories with
gas. As wc have alw ays claimed,
tne News has had no inclination
to fight the gas company, only
as far as the city’s interests are
concerned, and we do not now t*e-
lieve in an eaclusive franchise nor
never will, but believe in protect-
ing the interests of the Bartles-
ville Gas Campany, as they have
their money invested here, but
must insist that the rights of the
• • people must alto be protected.

which ever way they decide it
will be done honestly and consci
entiously, and to the interest of
all concerned.
