BIG DINNER
On Thanksgiving Day at the home
of Ira W. Green, four miles northeast
of Dewey, a party of twenty-four peo-
ple gathered to eat turkey. Grandpa
J, K. Green and family, Will Green
and family and others'from Dewey
were present, all relatives.
Mr. M. J. Monigan of North Creek
avenue passed away at his home Wed-
nesday evening after several weeks’
illness with typhoid fever. The re-
mians were taken today (Friday) to
Pittsburgh, Pa., their old home, for
burial. The deceased leaves a wife
and infant child to mourn his loss.
Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Rose returned,
Saturday evening from a two months'
stay at Hot Springs. Ark., and Mr.
Hose says he is feeling better and
thinks the hot baths helped him.
Their many friends are glad to have
them home again.
D. C. Allton is changing the interior
of the Home Bakery and preparing to
install a doughnut machine in his
large front window. This is a new In-
vention which is being extensively
used in the large cities.
Mrs. Sarah Craine of Ramona came
up to spend the week at the home of
her son, Walter Swan, at Wayside,
andfto attend the Old Settlers' re-
union. Mrs. Craine is 77 years old and
has lived in Oklahoma since 1888. She
says she gave Hon. Robert L. Owen a
dinner one day a number of years
ago while he was out on his cattle
ranch, and not expecting company her
principle thing for the meal was corn
bread, which Mr. Owen said was the
best he Tifacl ever eaten.
Mrs. Minnie Dunegan. who for-
merly lived here, but recently of
Houston. Texas, has accepted a posi-
tion with the Arcade store. •
Mrs. and Mrs. Glen L. Morris, well
known here, having been associated
with the Dewey high school, announce
the birth of a daughter November 7th,
whom they have named Wilma Ruth.
They are now living at Edmond. Ok.

E. J. Barton of Oklahoma City, who
bpent Thanksgiving with his uncle at
Coffeyville. stopped off Friday to visit
the Dewey Globe people, he having
been associated with Mr. Cranston
while in business at Oklahoma City.
A religious census was taken the
first of the week by committees from
the Methodist and Christian churches
to ascertain the number of members
of churches here in Dewey and else-
where.
Misses Pearl and Una Fisch. stu-
dents at the state university this year,
came home Wednesday evening and
will spend the week end with their
parents.
