The political fates of the Sixth
District are aligning themselves with
some of the really big men as possi-
ble successors of Hon. Scott Ferris,
and, as these men ol big brain and
big affairs appear on the scene, the
small fry, after getting local mention
in the newspapers, scurry back to the
obscurity from whence they emerged
and will be heard of no more forever
—amen! There’s the Hon. J. Elmer
Thomas, of Ijiwton, the big-brained,
fair-fighting State Senator who plac-
ed the toboggan in the path of The
Big Affliction up Oklahoma City way
and sent him a mangled casualty to
the dump of inglorious defeat in the
fifty million dollar road bond bunc
about the time the violets were peek-
ing their timid heads above the sod to
cheer the hearts of humanfolk with
the fragrance of their grace1 and beau-
ty. That, alone, has placed the peo-
ple under obligations to Senator
Thomas--and the people don’t for-
get so easily as some of the bunc
dealers imagine. While Mr. Thom-
as has as yet made no formal an-
nouncement of his candidacy for the
Congress from the Sixth District, his
friends are holding their breath in
anticipation of its early release
upon which, folks, there will ascend a
joyous lilt of hallalujahs which will
echo in glad acclaim from the four
corners of the Old Sixth to kingdom
come
Here is a get-together plan, pro-
nounced by Mr. George Levite as be-
ing all but infallable—that is, if the
people of Apache have any desire to
get together, in a communal sense,
and go hand in hand towards the ma-
teriel Somewhereland: Bring in a
high-class organization speaker who
can and will awaken a spirit of civic
pride and communal cohesion among
the business and social interests of the
town A good feed and plenty of good
smokes in addition to the principle
talk with a plenteous sprinkling of the
local spell-binders, with a hallalujah-
shouting handshake thrown in as good
measure .will cement a commercial or-
ganization that is warranted to stick
—a.id stick is the stuff it takes to
bring material success. The idea is
well worth an intelligent tryout.

In Drill Construction
Van Brunt Drills have been the leaders. From
the first, all effort has been two-fold—first to make
a perfect seeding machine and, second, to construct
that machine so as to give long life and constant
