There has been lots of com -
plaint about the Y. M. C. A.
management overseas. There
has been charges of graft and in
competence which possibly may
lie true. There is no doubt that
many people took advantage of
the opportunity fora trip over-
seas for personal advantage. The
work that the Y. undertook was
a stupendous task and the short
time they had to prepare pre
vented a close watch on the hun-
dreds of men that were needed
to see if they were of the proper
• •aliber for the work. In that
large number there were certain
to be grafters and incompetent
jieople slip in. They will get in
the best of organized in titutions.
They may be found in banks, in
the ministry, in important polit-
ical positions and even in news-
papaper offices, but as a whole
we believe thet the work done by
those over there has been great
aifd while there will be some mis
takes charged up to it and some
secretaries may have been graft-
ers and some places the manage
inent was not what it should have
been, we believe that the good
done was worth the effort many
times over and praise should be
|
^iven instead of condemnation of
it as a whole.

4 Teddy ’ Roosevelt is dead-
The most democratic public man
this ciuntry has ever produced
as well rs the greatest thidker.
He cared nothing foa the opinion
of friends or foe if he thought
his stand was for the best He
was feared by hie opposits and
loved by kis friends, and as time
goes on will be looked upan as
the greatest man ever before the

dor Roosevelt has passed away.
Governor Williams’ excuse for
libereting so many pen birds is
very |xxji’. Just such acts as
this promotes crime instead of
preventing it. No prisoner who
deliberately kills a man or who
is a professional criminal is ever
punished enough even if he re
mains in prison all his life.
