A few of the Missouri mem
hers of the state legislature have
imssed a resolution demanding
the resignation of Senator Jim
Reed of that State and then come
before the people again to see if
he or Wilson is right on the
League of Nations That is not
a bad idea but why begin on
Iteed? They should begin at the
fountain head and ask the same
of Mr. Wilson and let the whole
United States vote on the ques
tion. There is no use of pick-
ing out one individual senator be-
cause he has the nerve to oppose
the president. Mr. Wilson is
liable to make mistakes and be
mistaken in his ideas the same
as any other man and every man
has a right to his opinion.
The sentiment is growing all
over the country in opposition to
this country entering into the
league of Nations as now pro
posed regardless of the demand
that it be adopted as written
without recourse. The Ameri
can people will be slow todepiive
themselves of their liberty to
act alone and also to be placed
where they will be called upon to
respond promptly to the demand
of any war that should break out
in Europe whether it comcerned
us or not. If a strong enough
peace treaty is entered into there
wilt be no need of any such or-
ganization.
At the last minute the Demo-
cratic congress refused to repeal
the war daylight saving order
even in the face of thousands of
protests from farmer’s organi-
zations from all over the coun-
try The railroads set their
docks ahead on the first of April
so you must lie to yourself and
get up an hour earlier and be
deprived of the best hours sleep
For our part we are going to
continue to go by the old time as
we did last year. That is one
German propaganda that the
Germans pulled over the United
States and lots of the big guns
fell for it.
The election of a board of di
rectors for the reorganized
Chamber of Commerce is being
held this week There should be
a good set of directors out in
charge of it and there should be
no man elected on the board
that is connected in any way
with a corporation that has a
franchise for doing business
with the city.
This office is now located in
its new quarters at 114 East
Second Street where we invite
the public to call and see us and
if in need of any commercial
printing we would be pleased to
accomodate you.
Spring is here. The small boy
is playing marbles and trees and
shrubery are leafing out.
