..‘Alfalfa Bill’ Is Back From
Bolivia, But Minus Colony
Back from Elba.
William H. Murray, commonly
known as Alfalfa Bill, of Tishomingo
returned home yesterday. He was
without ills colony in Bolivia, which
project he long had been plannir,?,
and 300 families ol Oklahoma are dis-
appointed.
It was all caused by a boundaryy
fighit between Bolivia and Paraguay.
When Murray arrived in yolivia. near
the Paraguay boundary, he was con-
fronted by two forts at the mouth id
the river, up wlich le must go to get
to his colony tract.
This was Murray's second trip. He
went to find out if a wagon route
could not be obtained but found it
would cost too much, and so he re-
turned, the loser of $4,500 which was
spent on Die project. Money Invested
by other Oklahomans in the project
will be returned, Murray said.
“My only regret is the defeat of my
project,” Murray states. "I will not
attempt to form a colony again, unless
the two countries settle their boun-
dary dispute, which 1 have little hopes
of their doi: g. Those who contract-
ed with me trip ted their moi: v and
future to mv keeping. Tlmt trust I
could not violate by placing them in
Un unsafe poslPnn. Heuce, my only
course is to return to them their m n-
ey. My plan is good, however."
