The more buildings that go up
the greater the demand for
houses. Two hundred dwellings
could be filled at once. There is
a splendid opening here for
apartment houses
Congress will have some im
portant business to attend to but
there are two foolish and unjust
laws that they should take time
to rej»eal. It is due the people of
the entire country and effects
every inhabitant no matter where
they live One is the crazy Ger-
man idea of saving daylight and
the other is the class legislation
and location legislation imjtosec
u|x>n the people, called the zone
system of i>ostage We believe
that ninty five per cent of the
l>eople are opixrsed to both o
these unjust laws.

Oklahoma voted to retain her
dirt roads for some time to come,
the bonds having been defeated
at the recent election. The wo
men have been clamoring for a
vote and the very first oppoiten
ity they had to use their fran*
chise they failed to take ad van
tage of it. There should be a
law enacted now that would com
pel every legal voter, if within
the bounds of the state, to vote
at every election or be fined, the
tine to be applied on the build
ing of good roads.
The street car company now
admits that they lost revenue by
raising the price from five to
seven cents. Whv don’t they ad
in it it to the public and reduce
the fare to the original price and
then give some service both in
running time and equipment and
they will make some rnouey
again. Is the line does not pay
it is becaune of ihe company man-
agers do not deliver the goods.
J Elmer Thomas fought the good
t oads bill because he had a plan
of his own. The present system
failed to reach his private health
sesort or sumer resort if it
might be so called, at Medicine
Park. Had the new road plans
reached his private enterprise he
would have been for it g«>od and
strong It is not on a lailroad
and is far from railroads trans-
portation
Wilson has a.t last decided that
the United States needs a little
attention«and he will return soon
and convene congress. He may
not have as easy time managing
that body as he does the repre
s°ntatives of the foreign coun-
tries, but it is now a case of try-
st least.
Ten days of rainy and cloudy-
weather is enough for one time
That is what we have had here
for the past ten days Warmer
weather and sunshine was prom
ised for the last of the week but
for some reason we failed to have
it.
We have often wondered why
Cam. Russell was so opposed to
hard surfaced roads but have de
cided that the dirt roads are
more convenient for his cat.

Oklahoma Is threatened with a ser-
ous epidemic of hydrophobia, accord-
ing to Dr. A. R. Lewis, head of the
state board of health, who says that
Je considers the situation at present
by far the most serious of any in the
recent history of the state. The epi-
demic to date is limited to one sec-
tion of the state, particularly Potta-
watomie county, Lewis said, but it is
tremendously hard to fight and if it
once get8 a foothold In a community
It spreads Into the most serious of
civic afflictions. A number heads
