The Tecumseh Herald says:

encouragement. All democrats ought

it evidently not very enthusiastic over
prospects.
Mr J N Beaty-.ays that he heard
many inquiries at Newton and Wichi-
ta about the fair, some from horse-
men who wished to make ent ries in
the races and others who wished to
visit the fair. He thinks the adver-
tising matter cannot be put up too
soon up there.
A report has l> en put n circulation
that the central committeemen will
be entitled to participate in tlie con-
vention. It is an absurd report, but
it has gained some credence. The
central committe men a> e elected at
the primaries on the tenth, but their
purpose is to look after the campaign
and not to assist in nominating a
ticket.
Capt. J. C. DeUney has rented Miss
Nidey's line new residen ;o on Broad-
way, and expects his family here in a
few weeks. They have been spending
delightful summer at Atlantic City,
N. J., with Mrs. Frank McGlinchey,
and they will all retu n together.
The Nidey house is one-if the hand-
somest in the city and will be a very
pleasant home.
The Turnverh n Germania had a
most pleasant time at their ball and
ntertainment a Walker's hall on
Saturday night. There were seventy-
tive couples in attendant and they
enjoyed themselves hugely. The so-
ciety Is growing in numbers and in-
fluence, and som< of our most promi-
nent and influential Germans are its
leading members.

tory is united in one common object.
No city is trying to detract from the
success of this fair by local fairs of its
own. It Is a sensible move. Guthrie
had begun preparations for a like fair
on a large scale, but thought better of ,
it, and concluded not to divide the j (
territorial patronage between the two
ities. "Now it will lend a hand and
help make Oklahoma county's fair a
grand success.
The fair will open October 4th and
n to the 8th, inclusive. Handsome
display bills are posted -verywhere

tered about giving ample informa-
tion.
The whole territory should turn out
