Obituary
Death has robbed the home of
Mrs. Lucinda Butler by taking
away one of its prized and honor
ed inmates in the name of George
Butler, who was boro in Illinois,
near Kilbourn, Mason county, on
Jan. 10, 187fi. and died March 31,
1907, at one o’clock a. m He
moved to Woodward county- Ok ,
3 years ago from last December,
and has led a peaceable and moral
life in our midst, though not a
member of any church, yet he was
regular in his attendance n't church
service, and he expressed the de-
Mre to come in the church during
his brief illness and was only pre
vented by his inability to attend
services. Just before he died he
told bis mother, brother and sis
ter good Dye, then gently fell.
George first took the typhoid fe
ver during last December, which
quickly developed into consump
non. He leaves two brothers
three sisters and a devoted moth
er to mourn his departure.
The whole neighborhood feels
a sense of loss in his death but
we pray that our los9 may be his
gain, inasmuch as we commend
his spirit to the tender mercies of
a Just God. We believe that
George Butler's industrious aod
moral traits of cbaracrer will long
be remembered in this present
world and rewarded in the world
to come, Sometimes we try to
nide awav the smothered blight of
sorrow, but the very sceues of joy
today may seem more bright to
morrow. —A Friend.

You may go through this world
but it will be very slow, if you
listen to all that is said, as you go
You’ll be worried and fretted,
and left in a stew, for meddle-
some tongues must have some
thing to do, and people will talk.
If quiet and modest you’ll have
it presumed, that your humble
position is only assumed; your’re
a wolf in sheep’s clothing, or else
you’re a fool: but don’t gat excit
ed— keep perfectly cool, for peo
pie will talk.
And then if you show the least
boldness of heart, or a slight in
clination to take your own part,
they will call you an upstart con-
ceited abd vain; but keep straight
ahead, don’t stop to complain, for
people will talk.
If you dreaa in the fashion
don’t seek to escape, for they’ll
criticise then in a different shape;
You’re ahead of your means, or
your tailor’s unpaid, but mind
your own business, there’s naught
to be made, for people will talk.
Now the best way is to do as
you please, for your mind, if
you have one, will then be at
ease, of course, you will meet
with all sorts of abuse, but don’t
think to stop them—it aint any
use, for people will talk.
