SOCIAL THOUGHTS

FAKE PRUDENCE.
Someone wants to know what he Is go-
Ing to do under Socialism if ho chooses tc
snvo until he has $100. laid by. Ho says
he will have Ids home und all the conven
ionces ho wants, his bills are paid, and
lie bas sufficient without this to enjoy
life. What Is ho going to do with il?
He may spend that hundred dollars
for anything he wants, ji»ft so It isu't
ometaieg that is g jing to be thu means
of exploiting or injuring somebody e|so.
People will soon learn, under Socialism,
that Is Is unnecessary to lay by fur the
future. They will bo uble to fulfill the
Christian injunction: "Tako no thought
for the morrow, what ye shall eat, or
what ye slia I drink, or wherewithal ye
shull be clothed." If you will notice the
context of that statement you will find it
was not intended to apply to present eon- 1 ~"—
ditious, Seek ye first the kingdom ol God I 3|
and his righteousness (or right way) and
all these things shall beadded unto you.
We save at the present time merely be-
cause we realize that life Is hazardous
We want to provide Hcainst a rainy day.
We want to try. if possible to make per-
sonal provision tor our children. Under
a rational system, under right political
•Liioo | economy, there will be provision of op-
portunity for everyone who lives, aud
laying by will become unueecessary.
The fact is that so-called ••Providence
of God" is the most improvident thing in
the world. There is never enough food
in the world to feed all the people of the
world for six months in advance; yet it Is
f**d. Tills in itself is an Intimation of
the natural and right way. Where some
grab on to what little there is and hold it
out for themselves or their children II
means, in the long run, that they are de-
priving others of the right of life.
Capital uses polilioul power to muke
profits off workingmen and women, and
keep them subdued. The votes of work-
ers can eliange the conditions when they
learn to use them for their benefit.
