Birthday Surprise
i Mrs. G. A. Mommens was treat-
ed a real surprise party last week
when several aulo loads of visitors
drove up to the Mommen^ home
five miles west of here. The visit-
ors were Mr. and Mrs. Willard
I.ittell and family, of near Kiowa,
Karts., Miss Ruth Guernsey and
some friends, of Woodward, and
Roy Pratt and family; of Tangier.
The ladies of the party were nieces
of Mrs. Mommens, and they in-
formed her that they had gather-
ed to celebrate her birthday. A
very enjoyable celebration was put
on, the honored hostess receiving
the best wishes of all for many
happy returns of the day.
Tr.< wrestling match pulled off
at Morey’s Hall here on Monday
night was one of the fastest exhibi-
tions ever staged in May. The
contestants, Young Mayer, of Bt.
Louts, and Jack Gorman, of Enid,
both showed a wonderful know-
ledge of scientific wrestling, but
Mayer outweighed his opponent by
apfwirently about fifteen pounds.
With their weights even, it would
be hard to say which of the two
men is the besf wrestler, but May-
er's extra weight and strength
wore down his lighter opponent
and Mayer won in two straight
falls, the first in twenty-eight min-
utes and the second in eightteen.
The match was refereed by Jack
Anderson, of Shattuck. and his
divisions were eminently fair
throughout. All those who at-
tended were quite wellsatified with
the exhibitions.
