The Fditor’s difficulties.
One of the most difficult of
the editor’s jobs is to get facts
adout births, marriages and
deaths. People seems to think
he ought to know these things
by intuition. If not that the
birth, marriage or death is of
such importance in the immed-

late family that it is presumed
the editor will be informed bv
some wireless or just grow in>
to the information. Then
when the paper comes out
and no mention is made of the
event, the editor is blamed for
not running a good newspaper
or not gettng all the news.
Remember there are a good
many people in the county.

Incidentally, it is just the right time to remark that there are many
ladies in this community who at this season of the year find it desirable
to brighten up certain articles in their wardrobe.

If the editor knew each of
them bv name, besides their
family history and the chief
events in the lives of every in
dividual, he would’t be an
editor. He’d be a demi-god,
testing his feet on a cloud and
sipping ambrosia instead of
inhabiting a broken down o%
tice chair and Wondering
where the money for the next
white paper bill was coming
from.
The life of the overage
newspaper man is a gay one.
Gathering news is a second
nature for him, like picking
his teeth with the office pen
and cussing the office towel.
Just the same, there is a limit
to his omniscience Last week
we thought of a million, eight
hundred and fortynine thous-
and three hundred and sixty
four things of importance, be
sides a couple hundred thous-
and small items unworthy o1
mention. And it was a slow
week.
We’re ai.xiour. for news foi
the paper, and it won’t put
you out much to drop by the
office or telephone us what’t
happening at your house.
Then if the item doesen’t gei
in the paper, you have right
to come down and kick tin
stuffing out of the cat.
Other wise don’t blame us.

The edicor of an Illinois ex-
change is a public benefactor
and when dies the people of his
county ought to erect a monu-
ment to his memory. He ha?
discovered o new way to get rid
of misquitos. He tells you tc
rub alum on your face and hands
When the misquito takes a bite
puckers his gazoopic so he can’t
sting. Then he sits [down in t
damp place, tries to dig tin
pucker loose, catches his death
of cold and dies of pneumonia.
