OKLAHOMA STATE BRANCH OF
THE AMERICAN POULTRY
ASSOCIATION.
The Executive board of the Okla-
homa State Branch of the American
Poultry association held its first meet-
ing since thei organization was ef-
fected, on Thursday, Dec. 12th, this
meeting being called by president
Watkins for the purpose of disposing
of some important questions that had
arisen since the meeting held at Enid
Sept. 10th.
After a careful consideration of the
existing conditions, aud for the fol-
lowing reasons, it was decided to
abandon the plan of holding an ex-
hibition under the auspices of the
State Branch association, t?iis winter.
The Shawnee show will be held as
advertised, but as the Pottawatomie
Poultry association show, and as they
have raised the money for their pre-
miums expecting a “state show” there
will be no question of their success.
Our first and greatest reason for
postponing the state branch show
a year was the immediate necessity
for action relative to an appropriation
from the present legislature to he
used by our State Branch association
in developing the poultry industry in
the new state.
We have already begun gathering
the necessary date and following the
holiday recess will be prepared to
push a measure drawn up in the in-
terest of all the poultry men with spec-
ial benefits to uo one person nor com-
munity.
Our other reason for changing our
plans with regard to holding a state
branch show was a desire for har-
mony among all the associations and
breeders in the state, for we realize
that at this time when we are about
to go to the legislature asking for an
appropriation, divided interests will
seriously cripple our cause.
Realizing the expense and trouble
the Oklahoma Cit.v breeders and fan-
ciers have taken to advertise and
prepare for their exhibition and re-
cognizing the justice of their request
that we do not hold another “state"
show this winter, and realizing upon
the promises made by the same people
to join with us in a strong united
movement to advance the State
Branch association, we feel that this
action will strengthen pur position
among the breeders of the state and
leave us an open field to organize
the. state into county associations,
each one of which shall have a repre-
sentative on our Executive Board, and
have a voice in the management of the
affairs of the association. To this
end we urgently request the poultry-
men in each county where there is
no poultry association or society to
organize, make application for mem-
bership in the American Poultry as-
