THE “ROCKS” OF ROCKY.
“Rocky” does not mean that
this country is full of rocks
It is a prairie country and there
is no rock to be found nearer
than 7 miles In the sense of in-
dicating a solid foundation for
the prosperity of the town, no
word could be more suggestive
of the firm basis on which the
prosperity of Rocky is built, for
it is firm and substantial as the
everlasting rocks Here are
some of our “Rocks” Wheat,
Corn, Cotton, Alfalfa, Kaffir
Corn, Milo Maize, Sohrghum,
Apples, Pears. Peaches’ Plums,
Cherries Strawberries, Black-
berries’ Currants, Gooseberries
Irish Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes
Peanuts, Melons, Horses, Mules,
Milch cows, Stock cattle, Feeders
fNo ticks or fever) Hogs, (No
hog cholera) Sheep, Chickens,
Turkeys, Geese, Ducks
Population, increase in town-
ship last year 64 per cent
Intelligent, enterprising,
thrifty, and moral So orderly
and peaceful that there has never
been a law suit between- them
Do not eleot Constables nor
justices- Hnveno need-for them
Good schools; well filled
Churches,* No saloons
All white parsons A good
inundation certainly on which to
build for permanent prosperity
Considered in this sense, the
name of Reeky is highly appro-
piate, for wj hive the “rocks”

M. W. A. Memorial Day.
Last Sunday was observed as
Memorial Day by the diffi rent
Camps of Modern Woodmen
in cases where members of the
order were buried in local
cemeteries. There is but one
such grave in this vicinity, that
of Mr. Currie who it Will be re-
membered was killed by lighten
ing a few years ago while on a
trip to Beaver county. ,
He was a member of the Camp
at Barton but was buried in the
Star cemetery north of Rocky.
Last Sunday the Barton Camp
turned out in large numbers to
honor their deceased brother
after the impressive ritual of the
Order. There were thirty seven
Woodrpen and Twelve Royal
Neighbors in line, of whom all
mt five were visitors,
In the procession 68' vehicles
and five persons on horseback.
T lifer e was but one regrettable
feature, and that was the lack
of interest which the members
of the local camp took in the oc-
casion.- The Bartofr Camp, as
we uhderstand-, had extended! -------
thb local cainp an invitation to Deering,
'participate in the ceremonies, J Henry Marshall,
but the fact thtttf only five mem-
bers of the local damp Were pres-
ent, would ihdicate that the invi
tation was not treated with much
consideration. In fact, the.,
visiting camp could not be blam-1
ed if they felt aggrieved by the
want of courtesy shown thfim.
It would seem that4 theref [
should''under' the circumstances,
be a committee or something o
