Unusually Interesting services '.ere
held at St. Pauls Episcopal church
on Thanksgiving. The church was
aitixllcnlly and handsomely d.eorat-
ed with g'alns, fruits and flowers,
clear headed minister, to the number) -j.hu mu8|c was well selected, and
of dovotcd men, who arc doing all renljered lu a charming manner. 'I he
they can to clevato the general tone of
society to righteousness and scriptur-
al holiness. We quote in conclusion
from a Pittsburg socular papor the
following: "lie Is a man of extraor
dlnary magnetism, and at his altars
have been converted In tho twenty-
two years of his ministerial life, more
than 2,000 people. Tho Rev. J. T.
Riley's rise In so go< d a cause, de
serves especial credit. His father
died when be was y.-t a babe; penni-
less, thrust upon the world, to secure
education aud a living, which he did
without help. At the age of fifteen
he united with the church; at the
age of nineteen he enlisted In com-
pany K of tho 16th Pennsylvania
Cavalry; eluded and graduated it
Alleghany College with high honors."
Such men are needed; such we want
on the frontier! Men who toll and
labur with a fixed determination "to
do, and to dare" for the best Interests
of the race; not spasm xllc, or erratlr,
free lances, so-called evangelist,shoot-
ing stars, pretended rellgl .nlsis with
a thin, very thin veneering, who care
more for Ihe almik'htv dollar, and less
than the moaning cloud, or early dew,
for the soul "From all such, good
Lord deliver us."

Toe ThanksgUIng services at tlie
Presbyterian church were especially
interesting. The Rev. Riley, a pol-

pathos, which was listened to with

the cUoIr were excellent and each
number was exquisitely rendered.
Donal i Downie deiighed his audi

excelled his lecture on Napoleon, the
views being especially fine, lonigkt
