Ir Christ were appointed to office
in Oklahoma, there would be some
kickers.
Some men are born great, some
achieve greatness and some have
greatness thrust upon them.
A) sure as two and two make fonr,
so true is it that the democrats will
not be in it in the fall elections this
year.
Wlto'LL be clerk of the district
court of the Third Judicial District?
Probably District Court Clerk Witten
will be transferred to Outhrie.
Hinbt W. Scott will make a
good judg>. To be sure, he it
little young, hut hc'B outgrowing that
every day—just as rapidly as possible.
The Guthrie water works lias but
105 consumers. The Inhabitants
have plenty of time to saunter down
to the Cottonwood for all the water
they need.
Tue governor s selection of strip
couuty officers from this county
ought to give satisfaction. They are
pretty square men all of them and
all have plenty of ability to perform
the duties assigned them.
Col. Woodson will Boon get
mighty lonesome at Kildare. lie
and the other appointive olflcers of
the county will constitute the demo-
cratic party of that county.
Our friends "Burke aud Brown,"
i. c., "Times-Journal" are supreme-
ly happy in their new quartern
lAing may they wave and prosper.
By pluck, nerve and bulldog perserv-
auce they bu\c made the 1 'riffle, '
and their prosperity is a standing
eulogy on consistency, honesty, and
ceaseless watchfulness ot public and
p ivatc interests.— Oklahoma City
Notes in the Wichita Eagle.
What a damnable dtsgracc to Ok-
lahoma Becson has proven! The
more you think of it the more glaring
it appears. From east to west, in all
the countries on the globe, the word
goes forth that Beeson, the national
commissioner from Oklahoma, has
proven to be little better than a thief
—a man altogether unworthy of con-
fidence, dishonest and disreputable.
Isn't that a nice story to go out to
the world? Governor Renfrew
should call for bis resignation at
once—no, not call for his resignation,
but dismiss him in disgrace from ti e
position he has disgraced and out-
raged.
The sensation mongers, the over
credulous and the incredulous are
doing their best to keep InUnding
strip settlers in turmoil and imagi-
nary trouble. The sensation mon-
gers dig huge caves and people them
with giants who arc to come out at
noon on the opening day and take all
that is worth having. The over cred-
uIoub believe all such stuff and all
the thousand and one reported pro-
hibitions and inhioitions, and assist
to the l>est of their ability to circu-
late the stories. The incredulous do
not believe the president has signed
the proclamation, do not believe the
military or the secretary has authori-
ty to keep a free American citizen otr
the grass. The same stories were
told and the same defiant spirit pre-
vailed at all of the other opeuings.
The arrest of C. R. McKinncy,
the evangelist, at Stillwater a few
days ago, proves to have been it
grave mistake. A few months ago
a man dropped down into Somerset
county, Pennsylvania and did a thriv-
ing business for awhile impersonating
a special pension examiner. The
attorney general ordered his arrest
and had a description of him sent
broadcast. Deputy Marshal Stevens
of Stillwater got hold of the descrip-
tion and at once concluded that Rev.
McKinney, who was holding a re-
vival at the time, was the man want-
ed. He was arrested and taken to
Pittsburg, I'enn. When the wit-
nesses were called in to identify him
they all said at once that he was not
the right man. He was at once dis-
charged, but he is left penniless 1600
miles from home because he hap-
pened to look like tome other fellow.
He has been a minister four years,
but it never occurred to the deputy
to look up his past history.

Th^ man with kidney disease may first apply
for relief from dropsy or akin eruptions, or the
woman with kidney disease, or female weakness
may flnt apply for treatment for lame baek or
fullness about the eyes, or moth on the face.
People often find themselves in the situation so
aptly figured by the Hon. John Allen of Miss ,
the wit of the filnt Congress. Here is his cele-
brated rhyme " let fly" on the floor of the House
to the great amusem'-nt of that body.
•' There's Wanny runs the post oflics

Well. It's so with the afflicted. To avoid those
Ills, or to cure them. Dr. Kenncr's Kidney and
Backache Curs will not disappoint The Rev.
A. J. Meachnnt. late presiding Elder, Grove
City. Pa., \pr. 4. 1W2, writes: " For « years I
suffered with kidney difficulty and used only S
bottles of Dr Fenner's Kidney and Hackarhe
Cure I have had less backache In the last 10
yean than I formerly had In 10 minutes. I fpel

The Guthrie papers have asserted
for several days that "whoever held
claims or lots, whoever relinquished
claims or lots, whoever were inter
csted in the holding of claims or lots
and whoever were interested in the
taking or selling of the same will he
disqualified to take land or lots in
the strip." The purpose of the de
ception has just occured to us. It
is the only hope of saving a remnant
of the town.

get a European trip without the ocean

regretted. Another mistake would
be not to go over the Santa Fe route,

within one to four blocks of rapid
transit lines to fair grounds.
