The Hock Island road has recon-

Fort Worth, owing to the extrava-

Fort Worth is losing its reputation of
being the most enterprising city in

applications that are made to Comp

in tub course of his Fourth of
July address at Winfleld, Hon. W.
1'. Hackney said: "We meet today
amidst universal gjoom. The liberty
of the citizens which this day ought
to commemorate is menaced by many
dangers, chief among which I may
mention three:
Kirst—The aggression of corpora-
tions upon the rights of the people.
Second—The decadence of patriot,
ism evidenced by the administration
in power taking millions of money
from a treasury—which they say has
already been depleted to the verge of
bankruptcy— with one hand and
paying to the bondholder liefore his
due. While with the other they
clutch the maimed, crippled and
diseased ex-Union soldiers, their
widows and orphans by the throat.
These men who'saved to us a nation
in an eirort to make them disgorge
their pensions in order to replace the
ravages made upon that treasury in
the interest of money sharks and
foreign usurers.
Third—That amidst the crash of
bonds and the threatened universal
bankruptcy, we witnessed a conspir-
acy against the people, carried on
between Kuropean monarchial flnan
cicrs, whose every act always was in
the interest of the capitalists and
against lalior, and the money
changers of this nation, looking to
grinding of the people, yet more by
forcing all values to a gold basis. H
