Seekers of health and Pleasure
Come to Spencer,
The only town in the Territory where
you can get fine boating and fishing
And where your tired and worn out business mind is relieved of the worry
of the strenuous life by the beautiful diversity of scenery around
the old dam where the water leaps over the falls and goes rushing
down the swift stream, along the rocky cliffs standing perpendic-
ular 30 to 40 feet, or among the groves and forests, their beau-
ties not equaled short of the blue grass regions of Kentucky.
While your mind is resting and your eyes feasting, your digestive syst.m,
with the aid qf OUR PURE WATER, THE PUREST IN
THE TERRITORY, is building up the worn out tissue of the
body, and you are made to feel like a new person.
Our elevation puts us above the mosquito line, rom wfiich you can look
over the famous Nine-Mile-Flat, the most beautiful and fertile
valley in Oxlhaoma. Where you are sheltered from the sand
storms—-by which most Oklahoma towns are troubled—by the
small timber surrounding the town site.
Come and see us and be convinced that
you can not beat this for Health,
Pleasure or Business.
For Business or Residence lots call on

of Fallis Tuesday. He is greatly
pleased with the place, and may locate

to the Water Power company to be
delivered at Jones.
It has about been decided to hold
the Chautauqua next fall in the south
part of town on land owned by the
Water Power company, and Mr.

north of town closed last Friday a
week ago, had taken Walter Harman s
place in the school here while he finis-
hes his job of assessing.

Black Jack grove next Friday under
the auspices of the Spencer schools.
Tne children are anticipating a great
time and are making preparations
accordingly.
L. L. Noel and Noel, brothers of
WilUs Noel, of Arcadia, are here from
Missouri, visiting him and looking over
the country. They are highly pleased
with Oklahoma, and especially were
they taken up with the location of
Spencer, and its enterprise and business
push.
Geo. Kramer attend a meeting of
the Country Club at the City Wednes-
day evening. The> wi'I have their
annual opening at the Club house here
on the 12th of this month. They have
ordered a new piano, and will build a
tennis court. Six new members was
voted in. The Frisco will run a spec-
ial train for the opening day.
The measles are raging in the upper
end of the Crutcho Fiat. Shaver's and
Kellers’ now have them.
The entertainment given Saturday
night by home talent for the benefit of
the band netted about $28. The cake
voted to the most popular young lady
brought $9.00; Mrs. Leo Thornburg, of
Edmond being accorded that honor.
The W. C. T. U. met in regular
session at the church last Friday after-
noon. Mrs. Inman, the lecturer from
the City was present and made an in-
teresting addsess She gave a lecture
in the evening also. The local organ-
ization here selected five of the forty
departments comprising the W. C. T.
U. work. These five departments and
their superintendents are as follows;
Rescue department, Maud Thomas;
Flower Mission. Etta Thomas; Sunday
School work, Mrs. A. A. Stranahan;
Mother’s department, Mrs. Lewis
Thomas; Loyal Temperance Legion,
Mrs. Myrtle Staley. Mrs. Belle Har-
mon was appointed press reporter. A
cordial invitation is extended to all to
attend their meetings.
We were out to A, G. Kemyon’s
farm in the Crutcho flat one evening
last week. Mr Kemyon is an old pota-
to raiser from the Kaw valley potato
fields in Kansas. He came to Okla-
homa two years ago, and, believing
that the Crutcho land would raise good
potatoes, he bought a farm there. Last
year he and his neighbors shipped seve-
ral car Lad of the tubers. This year
he has In ninety acres, and ->thers in
that section havd in large fields; espec-
ially H. W. Malott. The young plants
are looking fine, only they are a little
l-te especially those m the lower
ground which have been twice bitten
down by frost. The freeze of last
Saturday night cut some ~f them
down to the ground. They are coming
out again but will be too late it is
feared to catch the high prices of the
early market.
The Odd Fellows’ speaking and ban-
quet Tuesday evening was well attended,
and the large crowd apparently, seemed
to enjoy it. They first met at the M.
E. church, where many stood up not
being able to find seats. Here for a-
bout an hour they listened to an excel-
lent address by Hon. A. Spangler, of
Edmond Lodge No. 5, in which he ex-
plained the principles of Odd Fellow-
ship, citing examples of the true Fra-
ternity, Love, and Truth, as taught by
the order, which had come under his ,
immediate observation and personal
experience. The large audience is to
be commended for the attention and
good order which it maintained. After
the speaking all adjourned to the new
hall where the Rebekah’s had filled
sevesc\l long tables with an abundance
of good things to eat. If these loaded
tables looked good, what shall we say
about them whe"< we came to eat. On
every side weje heard praises for the
cookery of the good wives of Spencer.
