POPULAR LUTHER COUPLE
JOINED IN WEDLOCK
Mr. Carl Brooks and Miss Opal
Rogers, both of Luther, were united
in marriage Sunday evening at Sa
pulpa. where the bride had been visit-
ing with her sister Mrs. Clifford Har-
ris. The happy couple returned to
Luther Monday, and will make their
home here.
The ceremony was performed by
the Rev. Crawford at the Methodist
c-hureh in the presence of the bride’s
sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs
Clifford Harris.
Mr. Brooks is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Henry L. Brooks of Oklahoma
City, formerly of Luther. He has
been reared here and is known to
most everyone in the community as a
young man of industrious and exem-
plary habits. His bride is the
omnlished and well liked daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Rogers of
Luther. The number of her friends
is limited only by the number of those
who know her.
The Register wishes to join with
the many friends of this worthy
couple in wishing them a long, happy
and prosperous married life. *

LUTHER GOLF CLUB
FINISHES ORGANIZATION
At a meeting held last Friday
night at the Standard Lumber Com-
pany the organization of the Luther
Golf Club w-as completed by the elec-
tion of officers and the appointment
of committees.
The following officers were elected:
President, Rev. W. I. Smith; vice
president, W G. Eldridge; secretary,
Claud. Olmsted; Treasurer, Paul M
Vorel.
Pete Loman was appointed as
chairman of the house committee,
with E. J. Canada secretary, and W.
B. Eldridge vice chairman.
The rules committee is composed of
E. Walker, chairman; Jess Tolle
son, Paul Vorel, Herman Cole, G. W.
Eldridge.
The work on the golf course on the
Paul Vorel farm, a mile and a half
south of town is progressing rapidly,
the members showing their enthus
iasni by all turning out and doing
their part, and it will only be a short
time until the course is completed.
This golf course is an asset to the
town, and something that every Luth-
citizen may well be proud of.
Luther is the only town in this vi-
cinity having a golf course, the near-
est ones being at Chandler and Ok-
lahoma City.
New members are being added to
the club, and a total of 25 is expected
in a few days.
Loy Love and family, formerly of
Luther, but who have lived in Okla-
homa City the past two years, have
gone to California to make their
home,
Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Dawson and
son Byron, who were called to Wa-
nette by the serious illness of Mr.
Dawson’s father, returned home last
Thursday.
Mrs. W. H. McCutchen of Oklaho-
ma i'.iy and Mrs. T. H. Hay of Wells-
ton, visited friends and relatives
here Sunday.
Mrs. J. M. Morgan and Mrs. Roy
Hayes and daughter visited with Mrs.
Jerome Keating in the country on
Thursday of last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Mark Davis and
daughters, who have been visiting in
Colorado and Kansas, are expected
home this week.
Mrs. Leonard Canada and children,
who have been at the home of her
parents Mr. and Mrs. Chas. F. Gar-
lin, for the past two weeks, returned ,
to their home west of town the first |
of the week.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. T. Dawson left
Tuesday for different points in Colo-
rado. They will be gone about six
weeks.
Word received from Adda Ecker
and family at DesMoines, Iowa, says
j that they are having a good trip and
J so far had had no car trouble. Mr.
I Ecker and family are on their way to
Fairbault, Minn., where they will
make their home.

Miss Opal Cole returned home Sun-
day from Neodesha, Kan., where she
had been visiting relatives for
week.
The little son of Ralph Douglas,
north of Luther, was severely scald-
ed when he accidentally stepped in
a pan of boiling water.
Miss Mabel Crossley came out
from the City and spent Sunday with
her parents Mr. and Mrs. Lee Cross-
ley.
Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Kennedy arc
caring for a 9-pound girl, who arriv-
ed at their home in Agra on July 11.
Mrs. Kennedy will be remembered as
Opal Baker.
Captain LaRue Taylor left Sunday
for Fort Sill, where he will be in ac-
tive service for two weeks. Fred
Huntington is working in the drug
store during the Captain’s absence.
Mrs. Willie Hayes ind Mrs. Nettie
Harris spent Sunday afternoon with
Mrs. Crosby and daughters.
Friends received word from Mr. Ed
Rogers, who is in Colorado for his
health, that he is feeling better than
he has for years and contemplates
making Colorado their home.
Mrs. Jap Dunham and sons, who
had been visiting relatives at Aline,
returned to their home here Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Coulson left
Monday for their new home at Still-
water, where Mr. Coulson will start
a barbfer shop Mr. and Mrs. Coul-
son have lived in Luther a number of
years end have many friends who
regret to see them leave but wish
them success and happiness in their
new home.
David King is expected home this
week from Sedan. Kan., where he
has been visiting relatives the past
two weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. J. W Vickers of Ne-
odesha, Kas., are here for an extend-
ed visit with their daughter Mrs. Aus-
tin Briscoe.

Emil, of the West Captain Creek dis-
trict, left last week for an extended
trip through the northern states.

Mrs. Minnie Higgins and Mrs. Ella
Cohee, who had been visiting rela-
tives here the past week, returned to
their home at Neodesha, Kan., last
Friday.
Chas. Huntington, Lee Glasscock
and J. C. Arnett were in Hurrah last
Friday, looking over the work being
done by the Oklahoma Gas & Electric
Co. They report lots of work and
great progress being made there.
Mrs. John Rinehart and daughter
Francis and Mrs. John Verser of Ft.
Worth, Texas, came in Sunday Morn-
ing for a visit with friends during
the week.

FATALLY SHOT
J. S. Harrell, a negro preach-1
| er living a mile northwest ofj
: Luther, was fatally shot about
!l o’clock Wednesday night near!
his home. He lived about four
hours, death resulting after
| midnight.
Harrell had been to Oklaho-
ma City, arriving back in Lu-
ther in the evening. He start-
ed home afoot and when he
neared home a man attacked
and shot him, the whole load of
shot entering his left breast.
It is said Harrell before his
death claimed he had recogniz-
ed his assailant.
County officers are looking
for a stepson of Harrell’s, but
up to Friday morning he had
not been found.
