GENEVA, May 5 —(U.R)— Tra-
choma, an eye disease prevalent in
poor and backward regions of the
world, is curable, according to a
committee of experts who met here
under the auspices of the United
Nations Health Organization.
The disease hitherto has been
considered incurable, but WHO
tests carried out in the past 18
months among Arab refugees show-
ed that some 60 out of 100 respond-
ed successfully to treatment com-
bining sulfa drugs and such anti-
biotics as aureomydn and terra-
mycin.
