How many noticed the numerous
crowds of young men and boys who
were on Main street last Sunday af-
ternoon? These young men and boys
had no special place to go or
nothing particular to do except to
stand around and do nothing. Some
one suggested that the place for
them to be would be their home.
That is true so far as lt goes. But
we all like to be where there are
others to talk to and meet with those
who are ready for a good laugh and
for a little fun. Now the only pub-
lic place provided would have been
the public library. When one has
worked hard all week he does not
i are to take up a book and sit still
but desires to go where those of his
inclination, are to be found and have
a friendly chat or game of some kind.
nd talking and games are strictly
forbidden at the Carnegie library.
Now it is of vital importance to the
employer just how and in what man-
ner the employe uses his time while
off duty. It is well known that
where men and boys are left to their
own resources in their leisure time,
that they will develop characteris-
tics that will eventually impair their
efficiency. For that reason the Y.
M. C. A. is welcomed in the cypress
swamps of the south and in the log-
ging camps of the northern states.

All this week the U. S. Army pennant will be on sale at the
News-Herald office. This pennant is black with a rich letter of slate.
All three of these pennants will be on sale this week. Pennants are now a fad<
like souvenir post cards. Everybody likes the brightness of the pennant colors.
Have you obtained the last pennant offered? If you have not you had better
hurry. They are going like the proverbial hot cakes.
This beautiful Texas pennant
comes in the navy blue with
seal of the state. This pen-
nant has met with a ready
sale and we wish to urge
those who want them to hur-
ry up as the supply will not
