Director True B. Kmerivin and two other school leaders were
named tivlay by a legislative sulicommittee as having re-
ceived commissions on school supplies sold in Oklahoma.
The committee xubpoened .'12 witnesses to apjiear at the
niushmoniitijr investiKation into the o|ieration of the state
education dejiartmerit and the activities of state and county
officials.
Dr. Oliver Hodge, state superintendent of public in-
struction. was amonir those aubpoened. but he declined to
ujifiear. Also *ub|toened were memliers of the state terftbook
committee and employes of Kmerson’a office.
State Rep. Ro»s*rt O. Cmminifham. chairman of the sub-
committee, said he favors “jroinir and ifetting" Hodyre be-
cause "sooner or later he will have to testify."
In addition to Kmerson. those named by the committee
as involved in the commission-sharing plan are Hill Shipley,
oknmljfee. a former school superintendent at the Granite
reformatory, and Zeke Chapman, Cherokee county school
superintendent. Shipley is an unopimsed Democratic nominee
for the house from Okmulgee county.
