Many Reliable Indicators
Point Toward Substan-
tial Increases
Not a discouraging sign was found
Saturday in a survey of records
in El Reno which generally are re-
garded as reliable indicators of a
city’s business trend.
More customers are being serviced
by the Oklahoma Natural Gas com-
pany than ever before, it was re-
ported. They have 2.498 meters ]
at the present lime In comparison 1
to 2.176 In 1931. Extension of
the company’s line has added sev-
eral during the past few days.
Another increase was reported
from the Oklahoma Gas and Elec-
tric company which has 2.856
’*«»>.eters now, 331 more than in 1932.
Water meters showed an Increase
of 36. there now being 2.345 In
operation. All services are metered
at the present time, officials point-
ed out.
Building Permits Spurt
An especially encouraging note I
was the Increase in building perm-
its. In 1933 they were $12,060;
hi 1934, $49,157; and advanced to
$82,536 in 1935 when 55 were is- 1
sued. Last year's business was the
best since 1929 when 92 permits
for $235,700 were issued. City of-
licials estimate there is more
building activity now than at any
time since then.
Postal receipts jumped from $30.-
523.37 in 1933 to $39,096.22 in 1935.
Collections ill 1934 totaled $34.-
557.
School Enrolment Higher
School enrolment has gained dur-
ing the last three years to 2.609
during the 1935-36 term and al-
t hough final approval has not
been given several federal projects,
the district is anticipating spend-
ing a large sum on the erection of
a new Junior highschool building
end a new elementary building at
Webster
The city voted a $55,000 bond
issue for construction of the 'Jun-
ior highschool several months ag<.
