There la no baiineaa ao big that It need no", adrertise. Aside
from the direct results that newepaper advertlsicg brings, there ia a
prestige and a confidence that ia na-.urally inspired by Judicious and
honest dally newspaper adrerilalng.
The day baa long since paased when a moderx. up-to-date, progres-
sive store even thinks of doing without newepaper advertising. That
might have been well enough 20 years ago in Shawnee, but Shawnee
is growing faat. Strangers are coming here and they read the dally
newspapers. Tbey are Influenced by the adverttaementa therein, and they
naturally beatow their patronage on those whose advertising Is attrac-
tive, frank and persuasive.
Besides that, the old residents, continually seeing the advertise-
ments. are Impressed, and they turn from their regular place of doing
buaineaa to purchase an article which appeals to them In the ad In the
newspaper They find that article to be exactly as represented, and In
that way the "ice" Is broken. The customer Is gradually weanei
away from the store that does not advertise.
