Key cousin of our mayor was
killed in Denver last Wednesday
morning.
Mr. Key was formerly foreman
on the section South from Chand-
ler. He left here about four
months ago and went to Denver,
where he had work in the engine
yard there.
On last Monday he sent word
here to have his house hold goods
shipped to Denver ashe intended
to stay there. On Wednesday
his wife sent a telegram not to
start the goods that he was killed
that morning. No particulars
as to how he was killed have yet
been received. Toe body was
buried in Denver Saturday Oc-
tober 24. He has a sister, Mrs.
Daniels, living at Stroud.
Mr. Key was an Odd Fellow,
in good standing.
He leaves a wife and one small
child to mourn for him.

TEACHERS
ASSOCIATION
The Lincoln County Teachers
Association met in the High
School building at Chandler,
Saturday October 24tli.
On account of the bad weather
there was not many present,
therefore several good numbers
hud to be omitted.
The paper by Miss Edith
Holland entitled “Primary Read-
ing and the Activities of the
children” was very interesting
and instructive to all.
The Round Table Clubs for
country teachers with Supt.
O. F. Hayes as Chairman and
for city teachers with J. H. Bayes
as chairman, were very instruc-
tive to both classes.
One of the most important
questions discussed was ‘ The
New Text Books and Illinois
Course of Study.’
We were very much disap-
pointed in not hearing the paper,
"Articulation of the Common
Schools with the High Schools”,
by Chas. Crum, and the address
by Prof. E. E. Balcomb, of Still-
water. In his absence, Prof.
Bayes gave a very instructive
talk on “Agriculture in the com-
mon schools.” Plans for the

on the market, are thoroughly protected with the

The paints used are made of PURE white lead, PURE Ox-

proof varnish thoroughly brushed in, which make them last
and wear well.
