W. Raupe of Wrliston has entered
the race, with plenty of time at his
disposal to aake:a campaign fpr the

I, therefore, while somettf my am-
bitious hopes have been clouded,
withdraw from the race, assy ring the
splendid democracy that I do so with
no ill feeling toward anyone.
While, as I ba-re said, some of my

J. N. Stansbury Is having the
work of quarrying and hauling rock
for his new building rushed at pres-
jent, and we understand that Jacob
i Hattabaugh will also begin the im-
mediate erection of a stone building
on the site now occupied by Crow’s
restaurant. These two buildings
will, when completed, be a substan-
tial addition to the town, and with
the bank building make a very cred-
itable appearance.
Mr. Robart and daughter and
Miss Grace Brlllhart left Tuesday
morning for Caddo county, where
Mr. Brlllhart is engaged in farming.
Mrs. Brillhart, who is recovering
from an illness, will remain here for
a couple of weeks under the doctor’s
care until she has gained more
strength for the trip.
Mrs. Sanford Dean’s brother-in-
law, Sidney Townsend, and family,
of Dalton, Kan., left Monday morn-
ing overland for McAlester, after vis-
iting here a few days.
John Turner’s case was brought
to trial Tuesday for threatening
Thomas Marks, the jury returning a
verdict of guilty. The Judge sen-
tenced him to serve fifteen days in
ail arid to pay a fine of $25.
A Jlr. Allen and family from Mis-
souri .came in last week and have
taken up their temporary residene
in one of the Forman houses. Mr.
Allen thinks of purchasing property
here.
E. Nixon has received the appoint
ment as census enumerator for
Osage township and thetown of
Agra, and -will enter upon his duties

in the Council Chamber, for the pur-
pose of reviewing the report of the
Board of Appraisers making the ap-
praisement and apportionment on va-
rious lots, pieces and parcels of land,
charged with the cost of paving and
otherwise improving Fifth Street from
the east side of Manvel Avenue to the
east side of Blaine Avenue, in the City
fn Chandler, Oklahomn, and the report
of the Board of Appraisers is hereto
attached and published herewith. At
said meeting the Mayor and Council
will hear and adjust any complaints
and review any appraisement and ap-
portionment -made by the Board of Ap-
praisers, as provided by law, and will
review, correct, raise or lower the
same, and the Mayor and Council will
adourn from day to day and from
time to t'me until their labors are
completed.
At said meeting all persons Interest-
ed may api>ear and be heard.

Board of Appraisers by resolution of
the Mayor and City Council of the City
of Chandler, Oklahoma, on the 15th
day of March, 191®, to appraise and
apportion to the several lots and tracts
of land chargeable -with the cost there-
of, the benefits resulting thereto on
account of paving and otherwise im-
proving the parts of streets, avenues
and other public places In the District
on Fifth Street from the east line of
Manvel Avenue to the east line of
Blaine Avenue, being first duly sworn,
•ach for himself deposes and says
'hat he 1s a disinterested freeholder
of said City of Chandler, and not the
owner of any property to be assessed
'or the making of said Improvements,
and that he will make true and im-
partial appraisement and apportion-
ment of the benefits accruing to the
several lots and tracts of land charge-

provements, and that he will make
written report thereof and file the
same with the City Clerk of said City,
