Feed Crops After Wheat.
While talking with a success-
ful farmer, he called attention
to the need of good crops in 1918
lie suggested that it would be
better to prepare the wheat
stubble this summer for plating
to feed crops next spring. By
crowding a feed crop in this
summer, we are likely to reduce
the yield of the 1918 crop on ev-
ery acre used for catch crops
now.
The only lands which produced
good feed crops in 1913 in the
Panhandle of Oklahoma, wss
prepared for the crops early the
fall before,
This farmer suggested that
stubble be planted to feed crois
this summer only by those who
have not enough planted to such
crops to meet their needs, and
that an effort be made to work
for storing moisture for 1918
crops in stubble fields.

Tbe inspectors and Mr, H. C.
Wells, government engineer,
were met by a long line of auto-
mobiles at Washburn and escort
ed into the city. They were
joined here by a big delegation
from Vega and escorted to that
city where they were tendered a
banquet.
Col. Harvey expressed confi-
dence that the Amarillo conven-
tion will be the largest in the
history of the association, and
that fully 15,000 delegates and
visitors will attend. The local
committee has made every a»-
rangement to care for this num-
ber and more. The large tent
city planned for this purpose will
be unique. It will be equipped
with streets, water, lights, a lo
cal government complete, in or-
der that every want will be sur -
plied. In^addition to this there
will be special entertainment
features including s chance ti
make a trip to the beautiful Pa’o
Duro canyon, Amarillo's scenic
wonder.
