Announcements
The Kiowa County News is
authorized to make the follow-
ing announcements, subject to
the Democratic primary of
August 4, 1914:
For Commissioner, 2nd District—
PHIL THEIS
Queen Mary of England, the
papers are saying, is changing
her altitude towards the suf-
fragists. Whereas times past
•he 'laid down stringent rules
agfdnst the women of the court
hadifag anything to do with the
suffrage movement, now she by
various acts and concessions
seema to be easing down on her
hostility. It is notorious that
her Gracious Majesty holds the
whip over poor George and her
household, and that it must
have dawned upon her at last
that she herself is among the
moit. advanced and aggressive
suffragists in the whole King-
dom.
Over sixty men in the United
States receive a yearly salary of
1100,000. Thirty-fiver-a-munth,
how does that stirke you? Most
of these stupenduosly salaried
men were just where you are
Mr. Theis lives three tni'e*
northwest of Lone Wolf, and is
for Lone Wolf and the Western
part of the county. He is not
only versed in our county alfairs
but will make a valuable asset
to the Board of Equalization, as
he has assessed Dill Township
several times and is acquainted
with the relative values of farms
in Dill Township thus making it
possible for him to intelligantly
equalize the assessment of the
entire county.
It is generally known that
Dill Townsnip has the best
roads in the county, and per-
haps no man has contributed
more toward these good roads
than Phil Theis. The new law
makes each commissioner re-
sponsible for the roads in his
district and as Mr. Theis is a
practical road man the road work
which has been done under the
Township Board will be kept up
and made better.
The voter who is interested in
fhe betterment of our roads will
do well to give the matter
earnest consideration and will
make no mistake in giving Mr.
Theis’ candidacy careful con-
sideration. -»
Mr. Theis does not require an
extended introduction or an-
nouncement, for he is well
