Those Qualified to Excercise Right

To the Precinct RegUtran and Voter*
of Kiowa Conaty—
It is not the intent of the law.
not the wish of the County Re-
gistrar that any legally qualified
voter should be denied the privi-
lege of casting his vote at any
given election in Kiowa b ounty,
and in order that no one should
be disfranchised I ant asking
that each precinct Registrar con-
fer with his people as far as is
practical and to strive to make
it as easy as possible for the
people to register. 1 am sug-
gesting to precinct Registrars
that they arrange to be at or
near the regular voting places
for one or two days during the
registration period and to ad-
vertise these days as thoroughly
as possible so the voters may
lake advantage of these conven-
iences.
I have been authorized by the
county attorney tto sav to the
voters and precinct registrars of
Kiowa County that it is the duty
of alt qualified voters to present
For several weeks the-farmers
Uvidgin the south p°rt of Kiowa
county have been soliciting me to
euter the race for Kiowa Treas-
urea. I told all of them that 1
had never run for any office and
that 1 had no desire to get into
politics. They insisted on my
entering the race, They said
I they blieved the south end ot
j this county should have a can-
didate on the democratic licke*
! who could carry every vote; thai
I it would give strength to the
entire ticket: and that they felt
I was the man that every demo-
crat in this end of the county
could and would support for the
county treasurer’s office.
1 told them I would enter the
contest on one condition, and
that was, they were to assist me
in my campaig. They all prom-
ised me they would not only vote
for me but thot they would can-
vass every voter in the enunty
and urge him to support me not
only in the primary but in thi
general election,
These farmers have known me
for ten years. I’ll let Them tel
you what they know about rhe.
If you believe in them as I do, 1
know 1 will get your support, too,
I am in their hands and yonrs.
and am willing that you should
decide wheather you wrnt me or
someone else to act as your county-
treasurer. The office belongs to
you, not me, I want to set\e
you and but one plomise to
make. If you elect me I will
give every tax-payer and every
citizen an efficient, economicol
and honest administration of the
affairs pertaining to the county-
treasurer’s office.
As to my ability to do this I
desire to refer you to the citizens
in the soutn end of the county
who have known me the longest
and best. Ask them.
