We, the undersigned duly
elected and qualified Board of
Trustees of the town of Lone
Wolf, find that the report of
the auditing committee shows
some clerical errors and ir-
regularities in the transaction of
business by town board since
1907, but are satisfied from said
report and said books that no
intentional wrong has been
committed by the Town Clerk,
J. F. Griffith, therein and hereby
exonerate him from any inten-
tional wrong doing in connection
therewith.

To the Voters of
Kiowa County
I wish to announce that I am
a candidate for the poaition of
Democratic State Committeeman
for Kiowa Connty.
I was elected to this position
in October. 1911, to fill the
vacancy caused by the removal
of Mr. M. V. Van Meter from
the county, and should fill his
unexpired term which according
to the election and the usual
Democratic rules I should hold
this position until January, 1914
However, there aeemed to be
s ome donbt as to the length of
the term and some seem to think
that the State Committeeman
should be placed on the ticket
and elected in the coming
Primary Election, August 6th,
therefore I have filed with the
Election Board and my name
will appear at the bottom of the
ticket.
I do not wish to place my
advertisement in the columns of
the press af this county show-
ing a photo, of myself and pay-
ing for a whole page ad. for this
. . . _ . , position, because this is simply

me that there must be some-

I most earnestly solicit your

A Letts to the Voters d
Kim County
• -v ♦ j 1 \ %
It has come to my knowledge
that certain papers are to eon- i
tain a very lengthy article sup-!
posed to have been written by '
my opponent in the rac*. for
county treaaurer, but in reality I
coming from the pen of a pro-
fessional political writer, until
recently living in the fair city of
Lawton. This article it it said
contains various and sundry in-!!
formation as to how the county j
treasurer's office should be man- i
aged and deals extensively with
the past (very innocent) politic- 1
al intrigues of its supposed
writer. It also fairly bristles
with voluminous campaign pro-
mises and midly intimates that a
powerful political machine has
been built up in this county by
the present county treaaurer. At
last an apostle of righteousness
has appeared in the person of the
"big boy.”
Now in all fairness to you. Mr.
Voter, and to myself as a candi-
date L wish to submit the
following facta and questions.
If my oppponent was really so
innocent of politidkl guile why
did he wait until the last issue of
the papers before the primary,
when he thought I had no chance
to reply to his canrsd, before
rushing into print with his hired
article of deception?
Why is he now rushing from
town to town in an attempt to
form political combinations to .
further Kis candidacy and robi<
you voters the right to express
your will in the matter?
Will he be kind enough to name
the men who compose the said
political machine? Will the voters
of this county believe such mal-
isheous insinuations? The idea
is too absurd to be tenatable and
should rebound against its per-
petrators.
If this disciple of righteousness
really has your interest at heart
why did he not take you into his
confidence earlier in the game?
Possibly it was as incompetent
to do so as he was to write his
own creed. Possibly it was be-
cause he had not heard me state
my position on these questions
on several occasions. I refer to
the manner of handling the sink-
ing fund and the payment of
teachers warrants. This how-
ever i* not true for he has heard
me state my position on these
questions Possibly he has hac
copied, and I am informed he
has, and is using in the article as
his own my position and inten-
tions as made known in my
speeches made early in the cam-
paign.
Now gentlemen, as to my
self, my record in this county,
both as a farmer and as deputy
in the treasurer’s office is open
for yeur inspection. I am in no
way connected with a bank or
banking institution in this county
(all statements to the contrary
being false,) I owe no bank to
the extent that they are support-
ing me in order to be able to
collect what I owe them. I am
of age and have no guardian and
am the candidate of no man or
set of men, but am the candidate
of every voter in this county
who believes me to be worthy of
his support
I have no promises out to in-
dividuals and owe no man a dept
political or otherwise, except
that of good will and friendship.
I will, if elected, handle the
sinking fund in such a manner!
that it will return to the districts
to which it belongs the greatest
amount of interest possible. Do
you believe a man who is incom-
petent to write his own creed is
competent to handle the
affairs of the county treasurer’s
office as one whose competency
is known and has never been
questioned? Do you believe you
can trust a man who has deliber-
ately attempted to perpetrate on
you this eleventh hour outrage?
I ask the intellegent voters of
this county to carefully weigh
the injustice and unfairness in-
tended to be rode over you by
my opponent in waiting until the
last hour to publish his article
of deception and campaign trick-
ery. I also a conscientious man
ner in which I have performei
my duties as deputy county
treasurer, my ability to faithfully
serve you, and my known fair-
ness to you on all occasions, theu
if you believe me worthy of your
confidence and support, vjte foe.
me August 6. It will-toe -appre-
ciated by one who knows how
to repay friendship with service.
Sincerely yours,
O.B. MOTHERSEAD
