Political Announcement j They are looking at the matter
____ ; from a practical standpoint.
The News is authorized to
make the following announce-
ment. subject to the Democratic
primary, Tuesday. Aug. 6. 1918:
For Representative in Congress,
Seventh District:
JlM‘McCLINTIC
CLAUDE MILLER
Follow the Flag
The House resolution empower-
ing the President to take over
telegraph, telephone, radio and
cable systems for the war period
has been adopted by the Senate
The tremendous accomplish-
ments in movement of troops
across the Atlantic speaks well
for Secretary Baker and his de-
partment.
The American lads set the
pace on the western front, but
French and English brigades
were quick to follow up well be-
gun work snd the Huns are now
on the defensive.
Yes. the kaiser should be held
personally responsible for the
many foul crimes committed by
the German army and when the
allied victory comes he Bbould be
disposed of according to judg-
ment of the civilized world-

county, from Jackson county i
and other west Oklahoma coun* j
ties went to Missouri and found :
themselves able to buy large
quantities of corn at a reasonable i
price. But buying it and getting *
it down here was another thing.
They found their effort* at get-;
ting cars futile while great train-
loads of cars loaded with corn
were constantly moving to we*t- [
ern Texas. Oklahoma buyers'
were powerless in the fsce of!
| such a situation. If there had
i been a Congressman at Washing-
ton from the Seventh district
who had been in touch with con-,
ditions here, he would at once
have seen the injustice of such a,
state of alfairs. and would have
secured the cars for western
Oklahoma. It is said in Con-
gressman McClintic’s defense
that he was not asked to do this.
This probably is true. The peo-;
pie in western Oklahoma really j
did not know what was happen-;
ing to them. They knew they ;
could not get the right kind of;
feed at the right kind of prices,;
but they did not know how to go i
about seeking relief at Washing-
ton.

McClintio Speak
Hon. J. V. McClintic, member of Congress from
this district will address the citizens of Lone Wolf
and vicinity at
9 o'clock Saturday Night.
Let everybody come out and hear him. Congress de-
cided to take a recess and Mr. McClintic feels justified
now in going over his district and giving the Demo-
cratic voters an account of his stewardship. In the
meantime he has left his office in charge of his secre-
tary with orders to keep, .“open house” until he re-
turns. --» ■ .
McClintic has discharged his duties faithfully and
well and has been a strong supporter of all Adminis-
tration war measures. He will interest you. Do not
fail to hear him.
