Miss Lida White of Sparks, and
Miss Cora Casey of Prague, were the
winners in the debate held at Sparks
Saturday evening to determine who
should represent the south district of
the county in the county contest which
is to be held here April first.
The Sparks, Wellston and Prague
schools took part this debate.
A writ of mandamus was hied in
district court this morning by A.
Wittleshofer, asking an order of the
court to compel Mayor H. C. Mc-
Gaughy and the city council to allow
the republican and democratic parties
to select judges and clerks at the
forthcoming city election. Attorneys
Embry, Wilson and Hash are present-
ing the matter to Judge Burford in
chambers at Guthrie today. The
trouble grew out of the action of the
mayor, supported by Councilmen
Tegerson, Rooney, Finch, wolfe and
Funk, in appointing judges and clerks
for the election makiDg such appoint-
ments a part of the election proclama-
tion.

Mrs. A. E. Ross, received a tele-
gram last night announcing the death
of her father at Appleton City, Mo.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross and sons left on
the noon train for that point to at-
tend the funeral.
Probate Judge Wagoner is not so
well today and has been unable to
leave his home. He probably ven-
tured out sooner than he ought after
the recent surgical operation which
he underwent, last week.
