Flans lmvo been agree upon ami the
work of excavating began this morn-
ing for a stone building to be erected
on north Manvel, opposite the Barker
house, by Flynt and Todd. The build-
ing will he 25xU0 feet, all the walls of
stone, and will be rushed to comple-
tion.
This makes the sixth stone and brick
building now In course of construc-
tion. Chandler is not having a boom
but it would bo hard to tind another
town of its size that is making a more
steady, substantial improvement.
Stone-work on the Uormley building
on south Manvel is four or five feet
above the basement.
The uOxKO-foot extension to the
F, etcher build in.: has the stone all up
and the carpenter work is well under
way

Guthrie, Aug. S.-There will be no
statehood book published for the
school children of Oklahoma, altho u
’resolution was adopted by the territo-
rial board of education, of whirl
Supt. Baxter Is president, to publish
such a hook. The publication of the
matter by the newspapers has evident^
killed the plan and there will he none
published,
After the Oklahoman published the
rumor that the American Book t o.
was in "cahoots” on the publication
of this book, the governor was cited
on the matter and Supt. Baxter was
given a halt hours hearing on the sub-
jaot in the governor's otlice. Baxter
says the book was to have been pub-
lished in the territory and that he and
the American Book Co. tire not in
“cahoots.” Just the same there will
hv no book published.
