LAMj^BACK ?
WHY SUFFER?
That bacliache has a cause
and most probably it is nature's
warning to guard against ap-
proaching ills that might prove
yet more serious.
Chronic kidney trouble is the
most frequent cause of back-
ache. Don’t neglect nature'*
well meant warning. Take a

\VH\ I SHOULD ATTEND t tIUlU H.
(With Apologies to Hon. Claude
Weaver. I
It is a delightful privilege, on a
Lordsday morning, when the air
quivers with the chorus of church
bells; when the* subdued voices of
God’s worthy children, on their way
to His Sanctuary blend with the holy
calm that prevades all nature; then
to make preparation for proper ob-
servance of the divine order of the
day, because true rest and peace
come only through chastened and
sanctified service of thsoul, recon-
ciled to Its creator, whose earthly
tenement is the temple of God.
I should attend service, because in
so doing 1 honor the Savior on the
day of the week when angels first
announced that “He is risen," and to
Join in the glad songs of pruise, and
the holy communion, that proclaim to
lost mankind a respite from the ter-
rors of darkness, a triumph over sin
and the grave.
I should attend church to lend
encouragement ami assistance by my
presence, co-operation and pecuniary
offerings, toward maintaining the
preaching of God’s word and his holy
ordinances in the manner provided
by his Son as a perpetual means of
grace and salvation to the hungry
souls of those who seek, that they
may find.
1 am blessed in goiug to a church
set in order according to the divine
plan, because it is there 1 hear the
message of my Redeemer; because it
pleased God by the foolishness of
preaching to save them that believe,
and because It is thus that 1 receive
the Bread of Life that sustains my
soul, and strength to meet the duties
and the temptations of the coming
week Wonderful Is the variety of
truths opened to my mind like the
brilliant, changeable scenes of a
kaleidoscope, revealing from differ-
ent view points the thoughts ami
Intents of the heart, as the man of
God skillfully proclaims the thrilling
message divinely adjusted to every
individual need in all the labyrinthine
experiences of life. Not a whit less
miraculous is the potency of the
word and the method of its procla-
mation, then the wonderful works of
God recorded In the word And so
my faith is strengthened.
I find that In going to church my
spiritual vision Is broadened by the
light of eternal truth as it falls across
my pathway while I contemplate the
well selected lessons presented, and
meditate thereon.
It is at church that 1 find sweet
fellowship of kindred souls bound to
each other by the holiest vows ever
spoken by human lips. It is here I
am reminded that I live not for my-
self alone, and that only In cultiva-
tion of the spirit of giving may one
truly enjoy that which he receives
Here I learn or am confirmed In the
vital knowledge that unselfishness is
the exclusive groundwork of human
happiness; that the place and time
to strew flowers are along the path-
way of those we expect to benefit,
during their earthly pilgrimage, to
gladden the burdened hours when
succor must come, if at all, by the
hand of such as given in the name
of a disciple*
I go to church to correct my con-
ception of sin and righteousness and
judgment to come by observing the*
contrasts when viewed in the quiet
hour of worship apart from the pres-
ence of all temptation and distract-
ing environment.
I go to church to hear my Redeem-
er exalted in praise and exhortation,
where I can hear his word expounded
In simple language, the power of
which is Intensified when stripped of
vain philosophy and traditions of
men. I am thus persuaded that the
blessings of a Christian dviliaation
INDISPUTABLY UONFIKM th. di-
vine claims of its Author, establish-
ing beyond i isonable controversy
that He was God in the flesh and
that his mission is world wide, eter-
nal, and that of the Increase of His
governrosnt there shall be no end
I go to church because 1 need it
more than it needs me. There 1
spiritually glimpse the day-dawn, the
Bright and Morning Htar. which re-
assures me that my present sphere
of existence is only the morning and
not the compass of eternity for me.
and that If 1 look ea*oward the \' t\
is bright and the shadows are in the
background My faith reveals a hope;
that is NOT baseless, and a vision
that Is NOT n delusive phantom; the
reward becomes a glorious reality
and NOT a beautiful dream that dis-
appears when I again come in eon-,
tact with the material surroundings1
of dallv life The yoke of service Is
egsv and all my burdens become
lighter, so that I can give a reason
at any moment for the hope that Is
within me •
