It Isn’t Your Town,
You
It’s
If you want to live in the kind of a town
Like the kind of a town you like,
You needn't slip your close in a grip
And start on a long, long hike.
You’ll only find w ha. you’ve left behind,
For there’s nothing that's really new,
It's a knock at yourself when you knock
your town,
It isn’t the town, it’s you.
Real town arc not made by men afraid
Least somebody fuse gels ahead,
When everyone works and nobody
shirks
You can raise a town from the dead.
And if, while you make your personal
stake,
Your neighbors can make one, too,
Your town will be what you want to
see,
It isn’t the town, it’s you.
Only A Hoy
(W. W. Giffin)
Does your heart ore f”il to thrill with joy
When in your path you meet a boy?
If so, your heart is surely cold—
You should rejoice though you are old.
His face is always fair and bright
And in his eyes a soft, bright light;
And in his voice a merry ring
That to each heart should gladness bring.
He seldom walks—he’d rather run
He’s always ready to have fun,
He laughs and shouts out in his glee
Who else is bound, he’s always free.
And yel he seeks what none can find
So deep and serious is his mind;
He asks of things no man can guess
And seeks for knowledge with earnest
quest.
His head is full of many a plan
Of what he’ll do when he’s a man.
He’ll be a farmer and reap the grain
Or he’ll drive the engine that draws the
train.
He’ll be a merchant and keep a store
Or he’ll be a miner and dig the ore,
He’ll be a doctor the sick to cure
Or he’ll preach the truth to rich rnd
poor.
He’s ever generous and kind
And frank and open in his mind.
He’s always honest. Have you ever yet
Known a boy who failed to pay a debt?
Yes, I like to meet a little boy,
It makes my heart run ore with joy.
If there is any one I’d rather meet
It’s a little girl—she’s still more sweet.

Chalmers Giffin to Guth- j
rie
Chalmers Giffin has bought an inter- j
est in the Burton Bros, store at Guthrie j
and took up his new duties this morning
Chalmeft is now connected with one of
the finest stores in Oklahoma and this
popular firm will find that they have
added a mighty good man to their busi-
ness. The Burton store has always
been a progressive and up-to-date insti-
tution and Clialmers will put additional
“pep” into the business that will 30011
be noticable.
Death of Darsel Child
The little girl twin of Mr. and Mr*.
Ace Parsel, who had been ill for the past
few weeks, died last evening about 10
o’clock. A hard struggle was made to
»ave the little girl’s life, and it was
thought for awhile that she was im-
proving, but a relapse came a few days
ago.
Funeral services will be held this af-
ternoon at 'he C. F. Clark home and in-
terment made in the Martin cemetery
east of town. The deepest sympathy of
the community goes out to the bereaved
family.
Co' <e to Have Band
M. Mat. Lavail, one of the best known
and ablest band masters of the state,
has organized a band here. The organ-
ization was completed Sunday with
i eighteen members composed of young
| fellows with little or no previous exper-
j k-nce. Besides the practice, each mem-

week and Mr. Lavail expects to soon

A particular customer is not always welcome at
some stores, hut we are always glad to serve this
class of trade. It is easy to please a customer who
does not care, but there is considerable satisfaction
in pleasing the man or woman who is inclined to he
what some call “fussy.” These people generally
know wlmt they want and when they want it and
it keeps the clerks as well as the management
from becoming careless as might be the case if all
customers were good natured and easily pleased.
We believe every one appreciates good service and
that is the kind ve try to give to all alike. Drop
into this store for that next order of groceries and
meats and see what a nice, freGi line
you. All we ask is a chance at
rest is “up to us.”
